The best cars for A/700 are what you’ll find on the Rivals leaderboards, if you’re stuck for a car then go with the BAC Mono to begin with.
As for the Rally League, I did an initial run last night in the Subaru 22B, with a build focused on handling and quick direction changes. It was one of the strongest cars in Pinnacle through the corners but the slowest on the straights, managed to get a few Pinnacle podiums in it.
The early favourite in Pinnacle is the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 6, several drivers used it last night as it’s one of the lightest cars you can buy. The Peugeot 205 T16 is the lightest car of the lot, but when I built it up to B/600 it would three-wheel a lot of turns and was very unstable.
I really struggled last night in the Rally league. Frequently stalling at the start and yet if I use the same car/tune in single player or private mulitiplayer this does not occur.
You were in the 22B as well, right? I found that too, it stalls easily with the stock gearbox.
I switched to a Sport box which helped mitigate this, but my launches aren’t as quick as the Mitsubishis. A Race box would clear this up nicely, but I don’t have the PI to spare with my current build.
Tonight I’ll give the Evo 6 a go; I downloaded the tune of the driver that won most of last night’s Pinnacle races and it seemed competitive in the normal B/600 Hoppers I did after the League closed.
I’d like to try out the 2015 Impreza at some point too however, as I want to stick this livery on it:
I’ve been enjoying the Evo 6 too. Had a few races with you both last night and towards the end of the session I was hitting top 6 consistently. I’m also having a fair bit of luck with Furian Archer’s tune for the 2012 (I think?) Impreza. It’s the model before the one you have just pictured.
Yeah the Evo VI and the 22b do seem to be the cars of choice for the pinnacle division from what I have seen.
22b seems to be able to get some pretty decent handling stats too, although I haven’t built one for handling myself.
Got a 22b that seems to be OK, maybe a little slow through the gears even though I didn’t stall it, might look at getting the sport box in it.
Also built an Evo VI as I’ve always loved them since I saw one in my home village when I was younger.
But been driving one of the two different Evo IX MR’s that I have mainly even though I seem to have much lower handling than most people with 5.0 on one and 5.2 on the other, still managed some podiums and had some great close races with a good few last night though.
Really want to build a '04 WRX STi as I have a paint job for it I want to use, but the build I made last night was rubbish. Hard to get it to compete when the '05 has such better stats and they both have the same PI at 493 so not a lot of room for upgrades.
Still really enjoying this league as it’s taking me back to my Forza 2 days when I used to do a lot of Tsukuba for time attacks etc (would love to see that track back in the game one day, really miss it), as I’ve hardly driven an AWD since FM2/FM3.
Spent most of this evening’s session in the Evo 6 and had some good results and races. The first lap was usually a tricky one as the lobby was full but that’s to be expected.
Currently sitting 12th in Pinnacle, hoping to stay on the front page until the end.
I’m using Eurolite SL’s tune, a full grip build with race tyres. With everybody else split between a power or grip build I’m able to undercut a lot of drivers in the inside of turns.
Ended up 11th as the League closed for today, very happy with that.
A way to get around the stall on launch I find, while not ideal is to have some lock on the steering and as soon as you launch go back to neutral steering lock. You’ll swerve a little as you launch but it works for me.
While my multiplayer ability is still very limited, I can at least get some races, now. Did a little bit of Ghost A. Saw the leader had over 100,000 points. Yeah, I’m not enamored with the whole “quantity over quality” thing. But, hey, at least I can do some racing. The leagues are a good idea, even if the scoring system could use a tweak.
After last night’s races I built up my own Evo 6, with the intention of having similar grip to Eurolite’s but with a better gearbox (for launch). I’ve got an initial version shared currently for those that want to try it out, and I’ll most likely update it after tonight’s session.
Ghost A needs to be renamed “BAC Mono and Alfa 33 Stradale Ghost Lobby” because that seems to be the vast majority of what’s in there. It’s a little maddening, but whatever.
