Common sense: So, Forza Apex game doesn’t have fuel usage or tire wear or dynamic weather or time progression… but in GRID Autosport, none of that really mattered, because the races were never longer than 10-12 minutes… So maybe Forza should have short races as well, at least until steering wheel support is implemented?
Forza Apex: HERP DI DERP - here, have 10 laps of Spa in pretty unbalanced GT3 class!
On a more serious note, what this Spotlight event did show is that my Laptop can handle 15 AI for 25 minutes without overheating on FM Apex, which it wasn’t able to do on Project CARS. So good job on that, I guess?
It has tire wear and fuel usage if you turn on simulation damage. I sputtered from chicane to the finish line on my first go, so it seems the challenge is to drive economically a lap or so to be on the safe side.
Hm, but where do I see how much fuel I’ve got left and where do I set how much I want to start with? Because while it’s true that there may be some kind of fuel consumption in the game, I don’t really see the point when you get 0 information about it…
Also, if you’re using a controller, push down on the d-pad and cycle as far right as possible. Full readout of car status included fuel level and tire wear.
If you feel that way, then you’re trying to drive too fast. Slowing down to the proper speed for each gate will cost you a lot less than the 5 seconds you lose for missing a gate.
Going too slowly gives you less momentum to use too shift the car, though. When I got the feel for it I took 30 seconds off my time in a couple of tries.
Also, this is a good place to turn off ABS, STM and TCS. The handling penalties are much bigger than the aid they give with the low speeds and fairly tame AWD cars in the event.
I was never very good at Autocross events with a controller, but getting a gold medal is rather easy, platinum might be difficult or even impossible for many people. Slow is fast in this event.
And I enjoyed the 10-lap Spa race very much.
The only Spotlight event I hated was the one with the Prototypes on Sebring at night. That was awful.
Piercing the Dark. I’ll never forget. The only event I will never get platinum on. No matter what difficulty the drivatars are set too, the one in first is somehow always ahead by half the flipping track. Rage.
As for the 10 lap run on Spa, actually enjoyed it. Love that track. Set to pro with all assists off and so damage and, with or without rewind, easy platinum. Probably gone now, though.
Is there a way to find out what the new spotlight events are without turning on my computer, reconnecting my controller and booting up the game? Can’t find anything anywhere but it would be nice.
Never had any trouble with bonus/primary objectives only thing that is not fair is the default starting position. Sometimes its really impossible to come in 1st place on unbeatable simply due to how far we are placed. Turn 10 should add qualifying system like Grid.
