This is my favorite game of all time, and I don’t have much to complain about… but I do agree that I wish I could tell which races I’ve “won” and which ones I haven’t. I like to get 1st place in every race, but there are some where I have 5th or something and they’re still marked “gold”.
I also wish I could try each race with different cars… I mean I can, with the Blueprint thing, but I have to erase my old blueprint and create a new one and there’s no statistics, no way to tell which races I’ve won or lost with which car.
I’m seriously tempted to start writing them down on a piece of paper… which is silly.
I hadn’t even thought of this, because I never allow myself to lose a race against AI cars. In fact, even if I just botch up a turn real bad and slam a wall or flip the car early in the race (knowing I can use the rubber-banding to end up ahead anyway), I’ll restart the event. I can’t fathom losing to AI, and I don’t like to win with a lousy performance. Looks bad on the replay.
But in general, I agree with you. I’m frankly surprised you can come in dead last, and still get a gold completion.
You and me both. There’s nothing for me to do now in FH2 (no events other than buckets and showdowns at all) unless I go through a road trip, and then I’m stuck with whatever canned sequence the game sets up for that. I’m so glad FH3 leaves all the events up once unlocked, as in FH1.
I guess this is a philosophy difference. I like the ability to play any event at all in multiplayer, which we had in 2, but I prefer a sense of progression in single player, which we had in 2 but lack in 3. Single player has always been about being told what to do. This went too open for mine. We’ve had 3 pretty distinct methodologies from the franchise now, and 2 was my pick.
Personally I think ditching the “Finish 3rd to progress” is one of the best things they did in this game. It means I can set the difficulty to be as challenging as I like and I can actually treat the races as races, rather than a ruthless passing challenge to overtake the whole field within 3 minutes.
Why not both? I’m all for completion, you get marked off, and even earn the achievement for completion of the event. But how hard is it to record Complete, 3rd, 2nd, 1st. The XP and CR payouts are already based on those 4, it could at least color code each marker based on that. I am not complaining that I want to get or have to get gold on all of them, but in the grand scheme this is easy record keeping. In order for me to strive to get gold on all of them I have to a) write down which ones I didn’t place first in, or b) immediately replay it and get 1st.
I guess in truth I don’t fully agree with Milliotseb. I think completion is fine for progress, because the reward is scaled for placement, but why not record placement as well so you have something else to focus on later if you are so inclined.
Yup, the map could really show at which place you finished for completed championships.
The UI is really missing the list (not a map) of all 63 championships showing your previous ranking and
championship details (car allowed, circuit list).
Say, if I want to redo a stock championship featuring ‘Extreme track toys’, how do I find it ? I travel to each and every championship to check if it is ‘Extreme track toys’ ?
Yes, I know I can make my own championship, but what if I want to replay a specific existing championship, for example, to finish at a better place ?
I really do not understand why things like these have been made difficult.
I will say that the game progression is waaaaaaaay too fast and too easy… shame really that the only thing left to do is to grind championships and do the forzathon thing.
