The Richland F1 Cup Season Three Thread

The BMW M635 CSI does many things well: it is fast in a straight line, it handles nicely, and it is fun to drive. It also offers a nice platform for both novice drivers and the pros to compete in. Therefore, it has been chosen as this season’s car. The Bimmer (or Beemer, however you like to spell it) has 300bhp, sticky racing tyres, a racing gearbox and racing everything else you could care to think of. Are you the racing driver it needs to complete the puzzle?

Since it is a spec series, it promises tight, compelling and exciting racing. Obviously we can’t control competitors fettling their cars between races to get the best out of them, so fine-tuning is allowed and actively encouraged. The only thing we ask is that you do not alter the build of the car.

Upon signing up for the series, you will be gifted the car with the series doorcard and sponsor on it already (please don’t alter the placement of these!) and also asked for your race number – anything from 2-99 – and then you’re away! Check the calendar for the latest round.

In terms of liveries, anything goes as long as you display your racing number on both sides of the car and ideally have your gamertag visible on the car too. Feel free to create custom designs or replicas of your favourite design – we look forward to seeing some wonderfully painted cars. Please be aware that this season’s car is from 1986 – while I’m not looking for 100% historically accurate liveries, I don’t want any lurid green Monster or Red Bull paintjobs. In short, run logos that were around in the mid-late 80s! If you need any help with this, please ask.

The format of the evening is as follows: (all times approx. and UK time.)

8.20pm – Lobby is made and invites are sent to all online players.

8.30pm – Race One. The grid order will be randomised. It should last 10-15 minutes and the results of this race will determine the grid for the second race.

8.50pm – Race Two – Same as race one except that the results won’t form the grid for the next race.

9.10pm – Race Three – There will be a reverse grid based on the results of the previous two races.

NB: Damage will be set to ‘limited’ to discourage deliberate manoeuvres. If you are unable to make the first race or second race(s) of the evening, you will be welcome to join us for the remaining races, but you will be placed at the back of the grid.
