One thing professional drivers take very seriously is The Prefered Racing Line. They may not always be in a position to stay right on the Prefered Racing Line, but they are never far from it, and usually only deviate to take advantage of an opportunity when another driver makes a mistake.
So, let’s find out from Our own Raceboy77. This short video called, Assists, and The Racing Line is a Lie, is available on his YouTube Channel (Raceboy77), along with many more great tips. Assists and Braking Line is a Lie (Forza Tips) - YouTube
After Raceboy77’s video, I have one from The Racing Line , a Motor Trend channel. It’s called The Racing Line, The Only Line you’ll need. The Racing Line: The Only Line You Need! - The Racing Line Ep. 4 - YouTube
This information is good for even the most seasoned Forza driver, and we should steer new players or players who are struggling, to these videos.
I hope everyone can take away something positive and refer the information to someone else.
This is just the beginning of a series of posts I have planned to help educate all of us a little more, and really reach out to the folks who are struggling with racing in online multiplayer lobbies. Those who are consistently in wrecks, who may be struggling with how to better approach the game.
I encourage you all to contribute any positive feedback you might have. I would also welcome requests for information. How to do certain things properly during a race.
I will be referencing information provided by top tier Forza drivers, real world drivers, crew chiefs and team owners from several racing types.
I would really like to hear from anyone who benefits at all from these tips. They are how I will gauge the success of this endeavor.
I don’t think the in-game line is the focus here, but more about the ideal racing line and adapting/deviating from it in different scenarios. Great inisiative Hippie. I learn something from it everytime I watched it and never miss Raceboy’s tutorials. Heads up.
Nice post, I like watching the tutorials and tips videos, they keep things fresh in your mind. From watching live racing and videos like this you can pick up a lot of good habits to have when racing. The racing line is nearly always faster. You can learn a lot in lobbies from the guys that always run out in front of the pack. If anybody is looking to be fast, look for the guys car and tune, download it in the lobby, install it, and follow him round the track, you can learn a lot by trying to follow his line, braking points, turn in and exit. You can also learn that if you can keep up with him in the same car or similar car, that by following the line for a few laps and being fast by not racing makes a big gap to the chasing pack who are trying to race each other. Once a gap is established you will have a nice cushion to do your own racing if the opportunity is there.
You can subscribe to these channels on YouTube and get notifications when something new comes up. I especially enjoy the videos from Raceboy77, because he is known to be one of the fastest, cleanest players in Forza.
After what I experienced last night in the Spec League, I’m pretty sure there are a lot of players who don’t have a clue about even the basics.
The usual lack of respect for other drivers, forcing passes at the expense of the other cars, plowing through crowded corners…etc, etc. I didn’t have a single clean race last night. I have max saved replays and am more discouraged then ever. After reviewing one replay and identifying 4 intentional rage wreckers and several others who were drifting and wrecking in a circuit race league, I had a massive headache.
The game isn’t broken, The Players ARE. And I just don’t understand how so many people can be so clueless and so willing to destroy the game for everyone else.
I won’t give up, because I really enjoy the game. But last night was truly discouraging.
I applaud your efforts bud and agree wholeheartedly with the principle. The sad reality I fear is that it will do little to stem the chaos in the public lobbies. Remember that the members of this forum are but a fraction of the total Forza players. The majority of the members here do have a clue and many routinely reach out for guidance.
I’m confident the majority of the troublemakers are the casual gamers who could care less about racecraft or on track etiquette. Even if they were to get this message it is doubtful they would heed it.
The public lobbies have been crap since FM3, which is why I race soley in leagues. I realize of course that league racing isn’t for everyone.
That said, if the info you provide in these threads helps those here who are looking to improve, then it is indeed worth the effort, so for them at least, keep up the good work.
I understand the forum community is small compared to the actual game community. A lot of players don’t know about the forums, and probably don’t care about them.
I have been putting forzamotorsport.net on my cars and designs for years, hoping to drive people to the forums. Now, I am also trying to advertise Raceboy77 YouTube channel as a place to get Tips.
I know there used to be more emphasis on contests and community event that drove people to these forums. Now, the new and events are advertised well in the game and the forums are an afterthought, if a thought at all.
You’re right though. Unless people see the information, it’s near useless. There are some on here who will benefit from it though. Whether it’s new information for them or just a refresher. And the information will be available IF new forum members come looking for it.
I said when I started this that it probably wouldn’t make a noticeable impact. But I will hold out hope that, MAYBE, a few people see it, tell others who seek it out and, over time, it helps in some small way.
But, online multiplayer and even Leagues (I’m slow and in Orofessional) are horrible. My experience last night actually made me want to walk away from the game. That’s NEVER happened to me with Forza.
Just to clarify, by leagues I meant organized ones like TORA, not the in game ones. I’m in the elite division myself and the racing there can be just as frustrating. I generally stick to the ghost leagues in game.
I wasn’t aware that TORA still existed. That’s great that you have that available. I am not structured enough ( or good enough) to make a commitment like that.
As far as ghost leagues go, I see so much disrespect for the track parameters that I can’t do it for long. It’s ridiculous to run strong, consecutive, clean laps and lose to guys who used every short cut and every over run area, to maintain their momentum. In my opinion, they are breeding grounds for poor race craft and disregard for racing etiquette. The ghost leagues turn into point farming sessions, where guys tune for speed, with little grip, and just drive fast, wherever they want, as long as it doesn’t slow them down. It’s hardly racing at all.
I hear you on the ghost leagues, but at least I can do some live racing without the nuisance drivers ruining my race. If they insist on taking advantage so be it, I don’t get all bent about it.
Yes, TORA is still going strong. You don’t t have to be the best racer to compete, just have to enjoy competition. We have drivers of all skill levels.
Is 2O4F still active? I’ve heard nothing but good things about you guys over the years. Would love to hook up with you sometime.
I never belonged to the 2O4F club. I struggled with the game too much until about a year into FM4. I was going through surgeries and rehab for injuries to my hand and back, that happened when I was in the military. So, I stuck mostly to rivals and lower class hoppers (C and below).
When the Xbox One and FM5 came out I had new health issues (bladder cancer) to deal with, so I took a break for over a year. I still played some FM4 rivals event, but never bought the Xbox One or FM5, until I got a clean bill of health (cancer free). So, I picked up an Xbox One and FM5, FM6 & Fallout 4 about 2 months ago.
I don’t know why, but FM6 feels really good to me, and I have been able to do well online. I have enjoyed the leagues, in spite of all the chaos. Yes, I still play in the ghost leagues for the same reason you do.
I might look into some organized lobbies as I get better. Right now I am only in professional league, but I think I could progress in a cleaner racing environment. I still love the game. I am definitely not complaining about the game. Its the people who don’t care and won’t try to race clean that frustrate me.
I hope to see you on the track too.
Sorry, for some reason I thought you were with those guys. No matter. I didn’t get FM5 either, I knew it would be poo. I am loving 6 myself, great game. I have Fallout 4 too. Epic game, I love it!
I’ll send you a FR next time I’m on. Hopefully we can get together sometime.
