I just feel the need to voice my opinion quickly on some of the egos of the people in the lounge and community in general. Now I’m not gonna go around naming and shaming or anything of the sorts and no one else that decides to put in their two cents should do it either, but it is apparent that people in this drift community, both points and tandem drifters, are getting a little out of hand with the debate over which style is better. The egos of both parties are fueling the entire debate and it is a little ridiculous and even saddening. If a tandem drifter gets on someone popular’s door, he/she feels like they are Vaughn Gittin Jr, if a points drifter pulls an 80K + lap, they feel as if they are #1 on the leader boards; someone has to see that this IS NOT how things do or should work around here. Your ability to do something may be impressive to others or not, but that shouldn’t matter, as long as you are satisfied that you did it. So not only are the people that do that type of drifting dealing with the egos of those specific people, but then they clash in the points vs tandem debate and the egos are shot through the roof! I’m just becoming disappointed in people here in the DL, both tandem and points and I am beginning to feel that the only group here that isn’t out of hand are the newer guys who have no idea what is going on.
Just remember this tandem AND points people who feel you are drift king/queen, don’t let the attention you receive in the community or scene change you. Stay humble and never forget where you started, be an inspiration, NOT a cocky person.
And on a quick side note, some of you “pros” claim that you are the best of the best, but refuse to battle or show anyone the skills you talk about. But that’s none of my business.
