The DODGE DEMON needs a considerate buff!

Sorry to bring up an old post, but I ran across this thread while I was looking for tuning advice on the Demon and just wanted to say that the Demon’s acceleration can be improved if you put in the full race transmission and set your own gear ratios. Nine gears is way too many if, like me, you’re shifting manual. So to help that, I tuned the gearbox to be a 5 speed instead of the factory 9 speed (ignoring the last few gears at the top) and set 5th gear, the new top gear, to be shorter instead of being an overdrive gear like the factory car. And now my problem isn’t lack of acceleration, but getting all of the power down through 3rd gear without adding the hideous rear Forza aero.

I might try tuning it as a 4 speed and see how it changes things. And I’m sure I’ll eventually change the car to all wheel drive, but for this week’s FR S1 race series, I was trying to use it as rear wheel drive since I already owned it and I was curious what it could do. I’m not sure yet whether it’s generally lacking performance in S1 class or not. It still could be, but I did manage a 3rd place finish in the first race of three on wet roads with only a Caterham and I think a Jaguar F Type Project 7 able to stay ahead of me. Not terrible. The two remaining races in the series appear to not have the straight aways that this car needs to pull ahead though, and the last of the three races is a small street circuit (which just makes things worse for this car), so I may end up trying something else for the FR S1 series. Could make a decent option for hot laps on Goliath though if I can just get the back end to stop breaking loose. Which, again, I can probably solve with just adding the all wheel drive swap.

The reason that cars like the Demon have so many gears is for the sake of efficiency and fuel economy in the real world. Since we don’t have to worry about that in the game, I’d advise not to get too wrapped up in committing yourself to using all of the gears you’re given. That’s just my opinion.
