The car stalls for what reason?

2011 Subaru Impreza WRX STI
US Tour Super Street
Daytona at night
manual with clutch

Why does the car stall everytime I come off the infield section onto the main track towards the finish line? I’m in the best gear, power is up and it’s as if I hit the clutch. Every lap.

Ideas?

I got nothin’, sorry. Have you tried manual w/auto clutch?

I’ve had a number of cars stalling on me especially on Daytona night and a few times on some other tracks, the TCS goes crazy on certain bits of road and slows the car to a complete stop, annoyingly it always seems to be when I’m in the top3 and I end up being out of the top 10 by the time it stops.

I’ve been messing with assists to find an answer, but, I get it on multiple tracks. Same issue with the Audi wagon. I’m too new to the game to know what is doing this.

It can be a combination of TCS on, Manual w/ clutch on and 1st gear being too long.

Also there is a way to launch if you’re still having trouble: hold the accelerator and spam the clutch button repeatedly. Or just shorten first gear. Or if you’re in a modern race car you can use manual sequential at no loss.

I have noticed this more the longer first gears, and is especially bad with AWD cars that have a more even torque split. It’s especially annoying when it does this in the start of a race as soon as it starts. My gear ratios are where I need them to be but because of the way the game is it stalls, had this issue in 5 when I started doing manual w/clutch. Regular manual never had this issue. I may end up switching back to manual no clutch because of these issues.

This also happens in Forza 4. You need to use the clutch pedal or button when going around slow corners or hairpins.
A real car will do the same if you have a stick shift.

In Forza, when you use “Manual” shift, there is an automatic clutch in use.

Good luck.

Out of gas? It happened to me too. When racing sim I think you can run out of gas without pitting on longer races.

I’m not running out of gas, just stalling. But thanks for commenting

Slowass Honcho and HCR Motorhead.

I was curious about changing the length of first gear, I will work on that one. Good idea. Yes, the start of the race is dicey in how the AWD’s react.

I’m not sure why I’m using a clutch, not sure if their is any benefit. After all when I’m physically on a real track, I use PDK with paddle shiifters.

I played around a bit and 1st gear seems to be the culprit, AWD and some RWD cars that have a lower amount of torque. I really don’t want to re-do all my gear ratios so I’m just gonna switch to the normal manual. Still a shame I have to do that, I will do some lap times today and compare the average times of with clutch and without.

Save and share a replay the next time it happens. It might help us point you in the right direction.

You may have the wrong racing line when you come off the infield ?

Are you riding the wall? The game thankfully has put a hindrance on that. It will down u down drastically.

And i agree a replay would be great in the hopes of helping you

No, I’m on a good line and no I’m not hugging a wall. I think the answer is TCS, I turned it on and no longer have trouble.

I have this problem on starts all the time. If I run tcs with manual clutch the damn thing stalls out. Highly annoying

Have you check where in what button are you e-brake set? probably you’re hitting A button thinking is clutch but probabbly you’re set for e-brake ; )

I’ve experienced this as well. It’s almost as if the car bottoms out and drastically loses speed and power. There is no indication as to why…no abrupt change in the surface (for example moving from the apron to the track on a high banked turn or something like that). It’s the same effect as when you hit the sticky grass in Forza 4…only then, you KNEW you were in the grass.

As for the manual w/clutch - I know that in previous games, that option provided the “fastest” car, depending on the driver of course. I’m not sure if it is still the case…I haven’t tested it extensively. But, due to the wreckfest that is online racing, I just run regular manual without clutch. Gives you the ability to have the car in the right gear, and takes away the “stalling” issue at launch, not to mention it rev matches for you on downshifts.

Why does everyone assume OP is clueless and is A. riding a wall B. pressing wrong buttons C. driving crappy? He clearly stated coming out of a corner the car is bogging down. Its a software issue with the game.

Other possibilitiy is car ride height too low making bottom down and slows the car, more if aero is making her work. @OP: did it occur with tunned or stock cars too?

Bottoming out will drop speed significantly depending how bad.

Those complaining about stalling with manual + clutch, fix your gears.
