Hi all, just chiming in to share my solution.
For those of you who have low GPU power draw, please use GPU-Z to see whether your GPU is properly using all the PCIe bandwidth the motherboard offers.
In my case, it was displayed as “PCIe x 16 4.0 @ x2 3.0”.
I kept cleaning the PCIe slot (with compressed air) and reseating the GPU until it finally became “PCIe x 16 4.0 @ x16 3.0”. After the fix, my FPS skyrocketed.
Are you using DLAA under NVIDIA’s L model? I have an RTX 5090, Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 32GB 6000MHz RAM. With DLSS Performance mode on the L model, I get around 130 FPS.
i have a i7 9700k and 2080 super, the first day of early access i ran the game no issues high setting at 1080p easily getting 60 fps, then after going to sleep and booting the game up the game was running poorly if i lower the settings down to very low the fps only goes up to 60, i dont know if anyone knows a solution but if they do id love to know
Fixt it for myself
My system:
ASUS TUF Gaming RTX 4090 OC
AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D
Microsoft Store version of the game
Xbox Wireless Controller
When using the controller wirelessly (Bluetooth), I experienced significant FPS drops and stuttering during gameplay. The performance would drop noticeably even though my hardware should easily handle the game.
After connecting the Xbox controller via USB cable, the issue disappeared completely. Since then, the game has been running smoothly at a stable 144 FPS with no stuttering or frame drops.
Based on my experience, the problem seems to be related to the wireless controller connection rather than the GPU or CPU.
I hope this issue can be addressed in a future update. The same Xbox Wireless Controller works perfectly in other games, both on Steam and through the Microsoft Store, without any performance issues or FPS drops. This appears to be specific to Forza Horizon 6.
Hopefully this information helps the developers investigate and resolve the problem.
I’m using an Xbox controller wirelessly without issue which presumably is because it’s an official adapter which apparently isn’t bluetooth but uses a proprietary wireless technology the same as the Xbox console, which is lower latency.
Perhaps if all else fails people could obtain one of those and it would solve the problem. Although I read that Microsoft have now discontinued the sale of it themselves so you’d have to find one elsewhere.
I suppose you could also check if your controller’s firmware is up to date, in case a newer version fixes the bluetooth issue.
