Last Tuesday on patch day I was watching the Forza Twitch stream on my iPad while playing the game, still before I downloaded the patch myself. At some point I got a popup in-game that cars were added to my garage. I didn’t get any message via the mail system accompanying this.
So I patched the game and it turns out that the 5 preorder cars I didn’t have yet and the Halo Warthog were added to my garage. Now, I already had the 6th preorder car (Mercedes C 63 AMG) but not the other 5 nor the Warthog since I never played Halo before. I’m not sure why these cars ended up in my garage suddenly, were they gifted during the Twitch stream or something?
I can use the Warthog without a problem but I can’t do anything with the 5 new preorder cars. When I go to these cars in my garage and press A to select them then I get an error message about the market place. I cannot drive these cars nor can I even remove them from my garage since I cannot get that popup menu on the car (that menu with get in car / add to favorites / view history / remove from garage / etc etc) due to this marketplace error message!
If any of the devs read this, would it be possible to remove the marketplace check for the 6 preorder cars so I can either use them or get rid of them? I don’t see the harm in removing the marketplace check for these 6 cars, that way people can freely trade these cars and the bug I’m experiencing would be fixed as well. As it is now, they are just hogging up space in my garage without being able to do anything with these cars.
The content update notes include “Fixed a problem where pre-order cars and the Halo Warthog were not appearing in the Windows 10 version of the game for some players” which may have also triggered delivery for console players.
Had you redeemed codes for each of the six cars?
If you go to My Games & Apps and Manage Game and select Details for each DLC, are they already installed?
Aah I didn’t read the PC patch notes but that must have something to do with it then, but surely something went wrong as well.
I preordered the ultimate edition via my XBox long time ago, so I was entitled to the mercedes preorder car. During early access and launch everything worked fine with downloadable content for me. I had only the Mercedes C63 preorder car in the garage, not the other 5 as it should be. I didn’t have the Warthog either. I do play occasionally on PC as well. When I got that message in-game last Tuesday I was indeed playing on PC, so all preorder cars and the warthog must have been added to my garage at that moment? Even though I technically wasn’t entitled to them? And of course when I swap back to my XBox those cars remain in my garage since the game is synced nicely between both platforms (what this crossplay-anywhere is supposed to do).
So when I now play on my XBox I see all 6 preorder cars and the warthog in my garage. I can drive the Mercedes C63 and the Warthog. When I check what’s installed on my XBox the Mercedes preorder car is there (along with all the UE stuff) but not the other pre-order cars nor the warthog. If I even try to select one of the other 5 cars in my garage I get that marketplace error message.
I think the warthog doesnt have the marketplace check where the preorder cars do have it? Maybe because they plan to give it away anyway with Forzathon in october?
I just swapped back out of curiosity to the PC and it’s the same there, I can drive the warthog on PC but not those 5 preorder cars. Tried to select the Audi R8 preorder car from my garage and I got the same error message there.
For whatever reason these cars were added to my garage on PC, they are now persistent in my garage on both XBox and PC. And I can’t do anything with these cars, not drive them, not remove them. But they sure do take up space in my garage since total cars owned = 228 right now according to the game and that would be with all 6 preorder cars and the warthog included (I’m keeping a spreadsheet with all cars I have so it was quickly checked).
IMO the easiest thing is that they remove the marketplace check on all 6 preorder cars similar as how it is with the warthog. Since the warthog doesn’t give an error to select it and I don’t have that DLC code installed either. That way people can trade them via the AH as well but I don’t see any harm in that. They are basically the same as the normal cars + a few upgrades anyway.

I have never bought or installed a DLC code for the Warthog and the 5 other preorder cars but with the Tuesday update those cars ended up in my garage when I was playing on PC. The warthog works fine but the 5 preorder cars other from the mercedes are bugged. I can’t select them, can’t remove them, can’t drive them, can’t do anything with them. But they sure seem to count as cars towards the garage limit.
When I got that "cars added to my garage"message I was still playing the old client version (pre-patch) since I launched the game on PC before the patch rolled out and then kept playing for several hours. At some point the patch was out (server side) for a few hours since I kept playing my pre-patch PC client (and watching the Twitch stream simultaneously) until Johniwanna said it was 1 PM his time (Pacific time I guess?) and he would continue the stream to 2 PM. That was around 22h-23h CET when I logged off, updated my XBox and continued playing there to check out the new DLC cars.
So the cars were added to my garage while I was still playing the pre-patch PC client but when the servers were already pushing out the new patch. I never got a prompt or something shutting down my client saying that a new version was out, it allowed me to keep playing.
I think I figured out the issue. I went into Manage game and found that there were three items waiting to install, one of which was the 2016 Mercedes-Benz C 63 S Coupé. I installed them all and could access the Mercedes no problem, but not the other pre-order cars. Did a quick search this morning and found this:

All those cars appear in my garage, but being that I pre-ordered on the Xbox Dash it makes sense that the only one I can access is the Mercedes and not the others. As to why they’re in my garage, I have no clue…
It doesn’t have anything to do with installing extra content. On that update from Tuesday 4th October suddenly all preorder cars and the Warthog were added to some player’s garages. Since they didn’t have all DLC codes for the preorder cars most of these cars are stuck in our garages. We can’t remove them nor drive them because you cannot do anything with these cars, as soon as you press A to try to do anything, the marketplace error pops up.
The easiest way to fix this for Turn 10 / PG is to remove the marketplace check from the preorder cars so we can either drive them or delete them. The more difficult way would be that they scan all their player’s garages and remove every car in a player’s garage that doesn’t have the appropriate DLC code for it.
Either way, something should be done to fix this since these cars are just taking up garage space and pop up in every race event where you supposed to be able to use them.
Just checked in XBox One version 1.0.37.0 and I sadly have to say that more than 2 months since this bug was discovered it is still not fixed…
Seriously Turn 10, how hard can it be to either remove the market place check from the preorder cars or else automatically remove these cars from garages of people who do not have the corresponding marketplace check?
To make it perfectly clear once again… WE CANNOT DRIVE NOR REMOVE THESE CARS FROM OUR GARAGES OURSELVES!!!
@ Turn 10 : When you look into a fix for the problem people have with the #63 Lamborghini Huracan ST squadra corse, please take a look at the problem in this thread as well. Whatever you do to fix, please do it to the preorder cars as well. At the very least, allow me to remove the cars I cannot drive from my garage.
