After waiting a year for my 2012 tax return to come in, I finally received it. I told myself that I would be grown up and responsible with the money blah blah blah.
That’s why there is a shiny new Xbox One sitting in my room now running Forza 5.
Bought the VIP pack, the Car Pass, and some tokens to give me a nice boost to start with. I had forgotten about all of the Forza Rewards I had been collecting for Forza 5 that simply hadn’t been claimed yet. Once all of the DLC and game had installed, I started it up and immediately was rewarded with 7 Million in credits. Needless to say, my garage is pretty strong for just starting the game. After playing for a few days, I have come up with my own pros and cons list.
Pros:
-The game is simply the most beautiful racing game I have ever laid my eyes on. I have spent a lot of time pouring over the cars just soaking in every detail. Its amazing
-The physics are phenomenal. For once in a racing game, I feel like I am racing and not just getting to know the physics system in order the get the fastest times out of the cars. I have to rely on my own skill to get me around the track at a fast pace.
-The car selection isn’t as big of a handicap as I thought it would be. The list of cars is incredibly strong with only a few cars I would like to see added, which I am sure Turn10 will address in the future.
-The tracks, while much fewer than FM4, are perfect. They feel real. It goes back to the physics to some degree but the tracks just feel great this time around.
-The soundtrack, DJDM (Lance Hayes) has pulled off another excellent soundtrack for the game. While I just rely on the petrol powered orchestra for the race music, the menu music is a nice classy touch. Very classy.
Cons:
-The UI, its slightly confusing to use at first but I am sure over time I will get used to it.
-The AI, lord above the drivatar system is USELESS!!! They are constantly braking randomly, swerving all over the track. None of them race like the people they are modeled after.
As you can see, I love the game. I don’t have many issues with the game. I love it. Cant get enough. Cant wait to get further into the game.
I have the same praise, as well as complaints. The AI is just as bad IMO, as it was in Forza 4, although a lot of my friends are in the Rival modes and Career modes.
It’s a great game and will only get better with time, as it did in previous Forza games. Have fun and see you in the lobbies!
Very nice. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have. I am actually about to dive into some career racing right now. I am about 40% through it, but they added all of the Road America tracks now that I need to go back and do as well.
Great to see another person, I only played the Single player enough to get a BMW in R class and then played online since, I agree with the comments the AI is shockingly terrible and “unbeatable” is still really easy !!
Glad you like the sim i got Forza for christmas and drive the sim every day so its well worth the money. As for the AI turn the dificulty up and learn to drive clean, if you drive clean so will the AI. Personaly i think the Forza AI is the best ive driven with in any sim ive ever had.
Race clean, use your brakes not the bumper of the car infront.
Me driving with the Ai and enjoying a close clean race LINK
I could not agree more. I’m to the point to where I am pretty confident in stating that this is the best Forza game of all time. The lack of cars and tracks do not bother me, as I would rather play great tracks than deal with some of the worst tracks from older Forzas. Plus all of my favorite cars are still in the game for the most part. The physics have never felt better, and the graphics are simply amazing. Sometimes when playing on Bernese Alps, I will catch myself staring at the scenery instead of concentrating on the road ahead, so not sure if that’s bad or not lol.
This has been a question that I have been wondering about for a long time. Do the rewards stack up and accumulate for Forza 5 for those of use who have been redeeming month after month, but have yet to acquire the game. Based on your post, I’m hoping that is a definitive YES?! Because, based on my experience with Forza 4 and Forza Horizon, if you redeemed rewards for months and finally log in, you’ll sadly only get the most recent month’s rewards.
Pretty much what my thoughts have been on the game. Agreed on (almost) all points except for the music. I like the theme they were going for, just… not the way they executed it for some of the menu and pre-race scores. I turned off the in-race music almost immediately, but that’s more because I like hearing the engine, tire and shifting sounds clearly. Anyway, glad to hear you’re enjoying the game!
Granted the amount that I spent on the game, Xbox One, 12 Month Gold Card, and about $80 in Microsoft points, was a smaaaaaall piece of my tax return. The rest of it is sitting in the bank for real emergencies. Gotta be somewhat of an adult ahaha.
Welcome to the club, StreetProvenHP! Now play the game for a week more, then boot up the old 360 and try Forza 4, particularly in cockpit view. I was shocked - before I thought that game was near perfect, but going back to it after FM5 is painful.
I still remember salivating over the FM2 images before the game released.
OMG this is REAL LIFE here!!!
Amazing times we are in, where we are constantly upgrading our standards for realism, it’s a subtle transition that’s hard to appreciate, unless you make jarring comparisons.
In pro-audio, they have emulated audio hardware into software and it’s kinda the same thing, the slope of technology is something that creeps up on ya.
In other words, all this stuff will look horrible several short years from today. LOL
I think the big Reward-credit drop is a one-time thing to veterans of prior Forza games then goes to the monthly use-it-or-lose-it mode. I got a big 4M reward around New Years, had played Forza Horizon a ton last Winter, and Forza 4 just a tiny bit. Now I’ve played Forza 5 even more than Horizon, and point drops are about the same each month, and each month’s reward has an expiration date.
…Good choice with the tax return. Better to spend it on virtual fast cars than on virtual loose… um…
The higher you set the Drivatar difficulty, the more realistically they drive. Set them any lower than ‘Pro’, and they drive like idiots. At ‘Pro’, you should still easily win most races, and you’ll enjoy the racing a lot more than you would with the Drivatars on lower difficulties.
Glad to see another player enjoying FM5, and if you ever enjoy seeing a NASCAR livery on your cars, look up my liveries!
you will find they get better the more you get in and play, and if you add a few more people from here thats willing you will start to get clean drivatars and better racers through out. the more friends and followers you have on xb1 in forza the better the drivatars will be, this also makes rivals better as you have more people to race against – feel free to add me if you want.
Also you spent that tax return the best way you could of a very good investment!!
