Been trying like hell to beat a buddy on Spa in A class, using the DBS. I use Rivals to chase him.
Well I’m still trying, got to 02:22.996, but he is at 2.22.8 something. I WILL GET HIM!
If I run PERFECT, I think I can get a 2.22.400 or damn close.
But thats the Thing, I HAVE NEVER RUN A PERFECT lap, any track any Car, and I have run wayyyyyyy too many Hot Laps.
Anyone else have the feeling you can never get that perfect lap, I feel I have at least .400 on every track I have run, but can never make it happen.
Its really a big part of the draw for me, the endless chase for perfection.
I heard a golfer once say (forget who)
You lean to play golf on the Range, not the course.
I feel same about hot lapping, you learn to get fast hotlapping not 3 lap races.
I like that, “The endless chase for perfection.”
That is the huge draw to race simulators for me.
There is only one person that you have to beat while on the track, that is yourself, your last best lap.
search for a better tune. hit whaat used to be the < button on the 360 controler in tuning to load a tune then use the same button to search tunes. put in the class and track andd it should find you a tune better than useing an overall tune
The real GRRR for me is when after 20 or 30 laps I have a lead and I’m going to get a +.5 or so on a perfect lap and I scrub a wall or slide off too far on the very last turn. Something about blowing it at the very end makes it 50x worse.
I have done that so many times its ridiculous. Frequently, its all been on LeMans too. That makes it even worse for me, because I can’t just walk away. I have to keep running laps until I get it done or I get to the edge of insanity. The edge of insanity wins out a lot though…
Maybe you should try running some laps against someone that you will always be behind against. I did that for a while and it really helped me. I started chasing the ghosts of a few different drivers because I knew I couldn’t beat them. I just kept trying to stay as close as I could. Little by little, I started staying really close to them. Then I started beating them… I find most of my best times are run when racing the ghost of someone that I know is a lot better than me. Maybe it takes the pressure off, I honestly don’t know, but it has worked for me.
I agree. Only issue is if you blow the left after the straight you are hosed for the next lap, too. Same with Prague and those darned walls. Prague and its moving walls. Grrr!
If you dirty the lap or mess up within the last split then yes you will dirty your next lap. BUT if you hit rewind and don’t hit the wall or dirty you are fine. So just rewind and do it again so your next lap counts. Also, my buddy found that if you dirty on your first turn or just mess up, you can rewind back to before the starting line and be clean again.
Yeah - I’m just really hesitant to use rewind, for some reason. I know it has its purposes - I can see how it would be good to keep working on a specific turn to make sure you nail it just right. I generally don’t use it, though – I just tell myself I need the extra practice, which I do.
I know, Worm. I’m just old and stubborn sometimes. I’ll try using it more.
BTW, used your tune on the Nova SS 396 to finally bust through a plateau on Road America D class rivals that had stuck me for several days. So, thanks for that.
This helps me, I race the ghost for a while getting used to their or my previous lines. Then I turn the ghost off (just press start and there should be a ghosts on off switch) which helps me focus more on my driving than getting distracted by the ghost.
