Skipping Gears During Upshifts

What are your thoughts on skipping gears with a manual transmission?

When I want to accelerate quickly up to highway speed I usually go 1 2 4 then into 6 once I’ve hit the speed I plan to cruise at. Is it possible that skipping those gears could damage the synchros or other components.

I don’t think doing that would hurt your transmission any, you might risk burning out your clutch sooner but I’m not positive on that. I’d wager that you’d hurt your gas mileage more than anything, unless you were doing it downhill.
