Series 47 Playlist Preview - Spring Season Screenshots

These are the screenshots for Series 47 Spring which was originally run during Series 19

At the time of posting this, nothing has been confirmed but other than the possibility of changes to the event labs and the addition of a backstage pass to the shop, I expect things to remain as below

The Toyota AT38 is up for the backstage vote which is one of the rarest cars in the game so that is a no brainer on the vote

Awesome, thanks!

Now the question is to drag or not to drag with the E63.

With my own quick basic idiot setups and testing both stock and full aero on stock tire configs are actually very slightly faster than full aero with drag tires despite the first two tracks being very speed orientated.

Yeah this is a terrible car for one of these Trials, if it could fit Rallies it would be fine but since it can’t you’re left with either a 4000lb+ car on it’s rubbish stock tires or a lighter but still very heavy car on drags, and in terms of AWD I personally don’t know of any comparable car to the Merc that works well with drags, they’re either very light or have insane aero + mechanical grip, which this big lump obviously lacks all of.

I won’t be bothering with it but for those who are I’d guess things could be pretty rough here given many teammates couldn’t even drive the Corsa properly on much easier + slower courses last week, ramming shouldn’t be an issue but people messing up the many high speed sweepers on Dunas + Pantano and flying off the track won’t be a surprise if you witness it.

But yeah I can’t do much beyond guess what the fastest specific build would be, Lambo engine swap, rear tire width, diff and both ARB’s about the only upgrades I can be absolutely certain would be part of it.

I will likely skip the trial this week too. I completed the first 2 weeks trial but left the last one. I’ve got my 49 points for Winter so I don’t feel the need to complete the rest of it.

I am lucky in the sense that I don’t need anything from the game anymore so I can take and leave the events I choose. I’m just accumulating backstage passes for whatever I decide to do with them in the future

I’m usually one to try to make drag tires work, but Im not going to mess with em this week either. I think their big weakness is in high speed sweepers, and the races this week are chock full of those. I think this E63 is really similar to the stock M5 we had recently. In that trial, I ran with both stocks and drags, mainly because of the courses that week. I did slightly faster laps at Arch using stocks, slightly better finishing times at Sierra using drags. But drags made sense because both of those races start with a 90 degree first turn and drags completely avoided the carnage created by “teammates” on stocks. But this week’s races have much gentler first few turns.

So I just focused on what engine to use. The Lambo V10 is normally a really strong engine, but some of that strength is negated by the stock transmission (i dont think the PI cost of other transmissions will be worth it).

Its weird how these two engines match up with the stock gear box. With the stock engine, there are spots where you go pretty solidly into 5th gear. The Lambo engine only gets into the early portion of 4th gear. The shift points in terms of speed are wildly different. Its like 5 speed versus 4 speed. And with less torque, wider gears arent ideal for the Lambo V10.

So I was testing at Dunas and Im not sure which is faster. I kept going back and forth between the 2 and every time I did better with one, my next run with the other was on about the same pace. The one area where Im sure one has the advantage in at the long, full throttle starts. The stock engine gets many car lengths on the Lambo engine. I think using the Lambo engine will force playing catch up.

Purely academic for me since I won’t be doing the Trial but I did test a few builds just now on Dunas, all stock tires though so still no idea how drags will do, FA is full aero…

V10, 8spd box, rear aero only - 2:35.180
V10, 8spd box, FA - 2:36.490
Rear tire width, driveline, diff and ARB’s, no aero - 2:37.116
Completely stock - 2:38.201
Stock engine + gearbox, FA - 2:38.351
V10 + stock gearbox, FA - 2:38.725

Rear aero only does make it slightly understeer but on these tires I’d prefer it like that for races, plus it will be much, much better on Pantano than full aero.

As Abell referred to that stock gearbox is awful with the V10 which I never realised until actually driving it just now, the 100+lbs less weight vs the adjustable gearbox’ed one counted for nothing as you can see.

Bone stock surprisingly decent so anyone who uses that is still well placed to beat the AI.

Nice. I dont know why I was thinking yesterday that race gearboxes were too pricey … maybe because I was just testing no aero, stock look builds.

Another thing I’ll add is that manual with clutch adds a huge advantage over automatic with the stock transmission. That advantage was a lot less when opting for a 8, 9, or 10 speed race gearbox.

With both the stock engine and V10, with no aero builds, I managed 2:36.2 using manual with clutch. Its not just the time to shift penalty with automatic, its also the inability to choose shift points and wring every bit out of every gear, and the ability to not downshift in certain spots. When the gears are that far apart, that advantage to that gets magnified.

I think M+C is 1+ seconds faster than auto when using the stock gearbox. When using a race geatbox, I think the advantage is less than half what it is with the stock gearbox.

I’m probably going to go with a no aero build, but I just tested spoiler only + V10 + race gearbox and that was the fastest option for me using M+C too. And the race gearbox makes the V10 wayyy better than the stock engine …
