Hi everyone,
I wanted to share a small quality-of-life idea that’s been on my mind for a while, especially after switching frequently between different Horizon activities. Right now, driving assists and difficulty settings are applied globally, which means we often have to manually adjust them when moving between casual modes and competitive ones. In practice, many players naturally prefer different assist setups depending on what they’re doing.
The idea is fairly simple:
introduce an optional per-event or per-mode difficulty / assist preset system, alongside the existing global settings.
Players could define assist presets for specific event types (for example: Rivals, Horizon Open, Co-op, Playground Games). When entering an event with a preset, the game would automatically switch to it. Any event without a preset would continue to use the player’s global default settings, so nothing about the current system would be broken or forced.
This wouldn’t affect balance or progression, but it could greatly reduce menu friction and better support different playstyles. Competitive modes often benefit from maximum consistency and stability, while casual modes encourage experimentation, learning car behavior, and just having fun. A system like this would support both new and experienced players without pushing a single “correct” way to play, while keeping the experience smooth and flexible.
