By open lobbies do you mean lobbies in multiplayer where you can set up races and other people who are playing can find them by searching and join?
If so then I second this. As multiplayer stands now I can never find the types of races I want to play in featured multiplayer, and the friends only multiplayer does me no good because my friends don’t play Forza.
If they added this the game would be amazing again (after the planned car points/parts locked rework they have planned.). I really hope they do.
Unfortunately, since they haven’t had user created custom public lobbies in their games since the Xbox 360 days, I’m not at all optimistic that they’ll add it back now.
People have been asking for the return of this feature ever since it disappeared with FM5, but not only have they never brought it back, no one at Turn 10 has ever mentioned why it was removed.
Try asking someone involved with Forza. You’ll be amazed at how quickly whatever conversation you’d been having shuts down.
It’s a shame too, because without user created custom public lobbies no Forza game’s multiplayer has ever come close to how fun things were in FM4 and the first Horizon.
Bored of open class racing in F4 I hopped into an open custom lobby running a simulated ALMS race with 4 classes. I ended up running a league with those guys that survived through the life of F7 and into ACC.
T10 should have brought that back a long, long time ago.
I don’t know why these companies think all lobbies must be full. If people don’t want to play a certain mode and it has empty lobbies, so what! The solution is to force people into modes they don’t want to play?? Ok.
would be nice, imagine finding nordschleife lobby which is not even part of multiplayer, or any track to join without waiting for it to be in week rotation 
Nope they haven’t mentioned anything about adding custom public lobbies or lobby browser or anything about drift or drag racing either… im starting to lose hope!
I’d love to see searchable pvt lobbys come back fm4 style. This especially to let us drive what we want instead of the forced options that week.
It also would reduce a lobby full of Meta cars due to lobby rules.
The system worked really good back then and could co-exist with the current multiplayer modes
If T10 would decide to do this it would be good. Current mp is apart from gt and tc… What T10 wants us to drive instead of what we feel like driving.
In my opinion, the current system offers 7-8 online racing options with constantly changing tracks, which are updated weekly. This system is good, maybe there could be more variations. The truth is that people are already used to having featured multiplayer defined by the creators in other games as well. This way, players can better concentrate on a specific competition class, and people are better organized into groups.
The private lobby with your own friends is always a given if someone wants to decide for himself which field to play on.
The online part is fine for Forza Motorsport. I play almost exclusively online multiplayer on Xbox and there are always many people playing the game no matter which mode I enter. I don’t care about whining people who are always dissatisfied… Many people like the game and this is my experience.
For The Welfare and Safety of Dick Trickle: Bring Back Searchable Custom Lobbies:
For me, the lack of this feature (searchable custom lobbies) has severely limited my enjoyment, playing time, and involvement with Forza Motorsport. Single player, to me, just isn’t nearly as fun, but when the only available multiplayer races, at any given time, usually don’t feature car/track combos that I’m interested in, I’m stuck either racing what/where I want vs the AI, which isn’t very fun, or racing other people in cars and on tracks I’d rather not race, which also isn’t very fun.
The worst part is knowing that this is something they could easily incorporate into the game, they had it for years before it they stowed it away into Dick Trickle’s 9th dimension mystery vault, and I’ve heard it’s a real nightmare in there. (At least that’s where I heard it was last seen.)
So, please, Turn 10, free the searchable custom lobbies and give them a better home in FM. You’d not only make tons of your fans happy, you’d be doing a kind deed as well. If not for us, do it for Dick Trickle, whom I’ve heard is haunted nightly by the SCL wanting to get out and be reunited with your games.
This is now the second most requested feature. Spread the word. If Turn 10 does actually pay attention to these maybe we can at least get an answer as to why they won’t add a feature that’s been one of the most requested in every one of their games, FM and FH, since it disappeared, if not get them to actually bring it back. I’d be almost as satisfied with a legitimate explanation as I would its return, they’ve been so silent about it.

Don’t have the game but am thinking of getting it. I always get the super-bigboy-deluxe versions though, and before I spend the cheese I wanna make sure I can jump into some drift lobbies easy.
Please bring back CPL. Right now we have no choice but to play whatever featured multiplayer has available at any given moment. Im not sure if if alot of people were really anticipating this kind of change from FM7, but i know many of the supporters of this game would appreciate a return back to the multiplayer format from FM7 or even better FM4.

Growing up loving cars well before Horizon, Motorsports was the go to game. The user created public servers was the spot for ever car lover to come together. Locking it up for pinks and cash in drag races and using the auction house to get paid. Please I beg yall as a fan, bring that back, I’m going on 28 now and i met my best friend in a lobby I hosted, winner would be able to put a car up for 200mil and I’d buy it as a prize. Was 15 lap on the nuremberg track will full sim damage, he was the winner. To this day we hang out, cruising real cars and play forza together.
How about open track day meetups online private that’s joinable while in progress so I can creat my own track day meetings and anyone can join and leave whenever they please

Need to have publicly searchable and joinable “private” lobbies where the host controls the track/car/length/assist restrictions and kick feature.
Hoppers suck and rotating classes/tracks that I do not want to play really keeps me from wanting to play Forza.
Cry about low player count if you want but you’re only shooting yourself in the foot on this one.

Brilliant IDEA FORZA, lets make things worse and give the rest of our customers more of a reason to leave! If I only want to race P/X class and on a track rotation I want to drive… I just dont understand how anyone thinks its a good idea to make someone wait to play the game. I cant just log on and run a P class at the ring. Why? because P class isnt in rotation and even if it was, the ring isnt in multiplayer. How does literally any of this make sense? I am just not going to play the game, forget about it and when I randomly decide to log back in 3 weeks later I see that I missed P/X rotations and turn the game off and keep not playing. I just dont understand the amount of stupidity at play here.
Just urinating in the wind here, it seems. Ill just have to stop buying the games \o/
it took you guys 3 generations and how many years to figure out you need to revert back to FM4 physics, how long is it going to take you to figure the rest out?
The online roulation system has both a huge number that hates it and also a group that loves it. Myself, i mainly race B and A class so i have to wait for weeks till my class comes up again. Now, sure id love to see all classes open instead of roulating but id love to see searchable pvt lobbys like in fm4 even more. This gives the player the controll over what to race plus if you could add the voting system the lobby can get rid of people who choose to play the game in a manner that ruins the race for everybody.
The system could co-exist with the roulation system
