Scandinavian launch - We're still waiting

Hello everyone.

With Forza Motorsport 5 being out for more than a half year in the US and most of the world, we are still waiting in Scandinavia.
The officiel launch for Xbox One is september 5th. Sure, by that time, we did avoid the bugs and updates. But it’s a really long time to wait, knowing that everyone else is playing RIGHT NOW…

By the time we get our hands on a FM5 copy, people are getting ready for Horizon 2.

What do you guys think? Will the FM5 online section die after Horizon 2 launch?

It won’t die but will be thinner. Hopefully for those who stay the racing will be cleaner.

No Sir, Plenty of people will still play Motorsport 5. I plan on playing Horizon 2 a little more till I get the games “core cars” (1 of them is Huracan). But, in my opinion, I know people who also prefer motorsport over horizon.

PS: Blame Microsoft for the delay

Turn 10 does not control the release dates for Xbox LIVE in regions already not active. That’s the Xbox LIVE schedule, and not something the GAME developer can change.

Considering how many markets that will have access to the Xbox One on September 5th, expect a lot of new and returning Forza players in those markets to play on top of all the players who will stick around and not get Horizon 2. I doubt that there will be any big difference for quite a few months after the release of Horizon 2, and even then, a lot of people might return after completing FH2.

If you want to get on the bandwagon in Scandinavia NOW, just head over to cdon.com where you can currently order an imported console.

There’s many people in Scandinavia with an Xbox One playing Forza already. I bought my console from a big retail store so there’s no reason not to get one, all warranties and such work fine too. The only thing they’ll bring in September is ruined games aka. dubbed crap like Horizon 1 was in Norwegian. They don’t understand their market when they dub Scandinavian games.

Horizon has never meant the death of FM. I was all amped for the first Horizon and was terribly disappointed when I rushed out to buy it on release day and went home and actually played it with its cartoon physics. I’m hoping that Horizon 2 is better. I do plan on buying it and giving it a fair shot this time, but it won’t replace FM5. I need race tracks.

Forza 5 online is already thinning out and has been for a while. Horizon wont help, but that’ll be temporary more than likely.

I have noticed a slight resurgence after the release of the Kinect-less XB1, but it is less than it has been.

I know for me personally, I will still be on FM5, even if FH2 consumes some of my time spent otherwise. Even if FH2 is absolutely stellar, I still enjoy motorsport and racing GT/LMP1/Spec series on actual tracks.

Not trying to start a FM vs. ProjectCARS battle, but I am interested to see how the release of that title will affect FM online turnout. To each their own.

Thank you everyone! That is just great to hear.
Just to be clear, i do not blame the delay on Turn10. This is all Microsoft.

Well, if you go to any gamestore in Norway today, you can buy the consoll and game, and this has been possible since january(In the cities. If you live outside a city it takes 1 day to get it to your doorstep). Before that you could order it from MS and all Xbox One in Europe I believe ships from Netherlands so you get the the same Xbox as buying from a store in Norway.

The big difference on Sept 5 is the ability for us players in the “new” countries to actually be able to use the console marketplace with ease. As it is now, setting things up so that you can buy digital content if you live in a not-yet-released market is far from smooth.

I’ll be one of the people still on motorsport as I’m not big on the Horizon idea. I might get it just to help with my tier level, but I won’t be a hard core guy like some are.

True Five has thinned out, but it hasd more to do with trolls and cornercutters than anything. Hopefully when it is released in the rest of the world, online will get bigger and better.
