I thought we were getting too serious on here and if I had an ego which I don’t have, I could’ve been quite insulted at the suggestion that I didn’t know the difference between a Seasonal Championship and The Trial and difficulty levels. I did highlight my top three car choices but I’ve always thought it better if people have a go at driving cars themselves in a blueprint which replicates as far as possible an event.
I did consider putting the “you cannot be serious” image but thought the “It’s just the way I see things” image would be more appropriate. It’s from “Once Upon A Time In America” directed by Sergio Leone starring Robert De Niro and James Woods. Leone is best known for his Clint Eastwood Westerns filmed in Spain but has always been a fan of America and Hollywood movies and wanted to make a Hollywood trilogy featuring a Western, a Revolution movie and a Gangster movie. He turned down the chance to direct “The Godfather” because he was planning to make “Once Upon A Time In America”.
Briefly it’s based on the book “The Hoods” by Harry Grey, real name Herschel Goldberg, and tells the story of the children of Jewish immigrants living in New York during the Prohibition Years (1920 to 1933). They get involved in criminal activities and are quite successful. Towards the end of Prohibition, crime becomes much more organized, it’s run like a business and follows strict rules. De Niro escapes death by fleeing to Buffalo whilst Woods goes to seek fame and fortune in California. 35 years later the two meet again and reminisce about the times when they were growing up in New York. Secretary Bailey (Woods) tells Noodles (De Niro) his version of what happened and how Noodles should feel but Noodles has no animosity towards his former friend and sees things differently.
Once Upon A Time In America is a 5* movie but if someone hasn’t seen it, best not read all of your post. The soundtrack is by Ennio Morricone who did so many great film scores. I had the privilege of seeing him and the orchestra in the Verona Arena in Italy in 2010 - unforgettable.
Yes it’s a great movie which somehow connected with me.
I hear what you say about plot spoilers but I don’t think I could explain the scene without giving something away. One year I organized a trip to New York just to visit some of the locations where the movie was filmed. I’ve never done that for any other film.
Some great music from Ennio Morricone and some years ago I worked out that he had written music for more than 450 movies. Pity that the music wasn’t entered for an award and the way the film was butchered in America against Leone’s wishes. Some of the deleted scenes have been restored but the quality isn’t great.
You could have just said you were running it on Highly Skilled instead of all that which is nothing to do with the playlist, I thought you must have been running Unbeatable from how much you were fussing over the launch of the cars, against Highly Skilled no long time player has any reason to still be worried about them to that degree, they’re bobbins at that level, at least 3 people on the forum alone beat them comfortably in stock cars every week.
I ran those cars because more people than usual are likely to jump into co-op for this, their team wins the first 2 races and they’ll have the new exclusive within less than 10 minutes.
And I ran your Carrera S suggestion later on yesterday, it was quicker than the #92 RSR and Turbo S I originally tried, it’s a perfectly serviceable choice.
You don’t need to be so needlessly defensive if you trust what you say.
