Over the weekend I was working on a Aventador in-game and I ran into an unusual problem. Why would performing a RWD conversion from AWD increase the weight? In Forza 4 if you did the same thing the car would lose a considerable amount of weight and go down a class, which was even better. I understand that Forza 5 has been overhauled in many ways but this cannot be right.
Is there anyone out there that could clarify this further?
Haha yeah I would be interested in this ‘logic’ of theirs. I have been a big supporter of this game but flaws like this really irritate me. I guess it is just personal preference for wanting a Lambo in its RWD goodness instead of this Audi 4wd b/s.
I converted the Audi R8 and Lamborghini LP570, LP670, LP700 to RWD despite the weight increase and they’re far superior to the AWD tunes. The more I play this game, the better I become at controlling high powered RWD cars.
I would say the main reason for the weight gain is competition. Switching alot of AWD cars to rear wheel just made them to good in past forza’. It makes no sense to gain weight so that is what i think T10 tried to do to keep everything competitive

I agree with you guys. It might be to make the cars more competitive. In fairness an RWD LP700 is insanely unfair compared to its AWD counterpart, but in my book if I can make it work then I should benefit from my innovations. However, if the developers are sacrificing the realistic aspects of car modification for a level playing field it is a really lousy move.
Also did you guys notice that when you do an engine swap they decided to switch to the street, sport & race classification and not what the engine actually is?
Well that’s a horrible way to attack the problem, it would have been better to just rate RWD higher instead of making RWD unrealistically heavier than AWD.
Has it been a discussion before? If this thread needs to be moved to reduce similar posts feel free. Yeah I never really understood the PI system. I raced a Huayra that was well under it’s class (the game told me I was uncompetitive) but I still finished in first place. I sure showed them!!
Hi, I was very interested in what T10 would do with the PI balance of RWD and AWD cars for F5.
I have ended a little dissapointed with the RWD cars coverting to AWD will most of the time lower all stats and add weight and add a good amount of PI.
It looks unblanced and not right and takes out that compermise.
One they may not have the balance correct still although it seems a little better than FM4.
Two I don’t look too much at the stats but there are characteristics cars have that the current stats don’t reflect well. Launch may take account part of the improvement of AWD but there is a grip out of corners that I am not sure the current stat categories handle well.
I am not suggesting there is nothing wrong with the balance but the stat categories are not a perfect indicator. But then again neither is PI.
Stop focusing so much on weight. While it is important, it is not a deal breaker in terms of the car’s competitiveness. AWD, RWD, and FWD are all competitive. I see no problem with the current system (outside of the 1.6L engine swap deal).
I think Uber is refering specifically to AWD conversions. While they can hold their own up to a point, the weight penalty sees them lagging behind native AWD for the most part.
I dont think changing an AWD car to RWD is as easy as removing the front axles. They don’t design them to deliver 100% torque through the rear drivetrain 100% of the time. Maybe they figured for extra bracing or bracketing to handle this change.
I think most people would scratch their head as well when they hear that a rag top convertible sometimes weighs more then its hardtop brethren.
