Having spent a fair amount of hours without problem, tonight I experienced the dreaded audio interference noises from F5.
This was followed by a game crash and return to dashboard.
I was just winding down a 5 hour session where I played some career, a few multiplayer races, a bit of tuning and a free play, then a return to career mode.
The crash happened mid-race and the noises only appeared in my last race.
My game is a direct download.
I have searched the forum and nobody else seems to have reported such an issue so I hope that it was just a one off.
Has anybody else had a similar problem?
I just hope it’s not the start of the same problem that plagued so many others in F5.
what track was your last race?
Step 1:
Clear Persistent Storage thrice, followed by clearing your Alternate MAC Address; the system will either restart or shutdown depending on your power settings.
Wait for it to restart - then shut down. When you see the brick going amber, disconnect it from the main source. Reconnect it after about a minute, wait for the brick to go to amber, then power up console.
Step 2:
If the above does not remedy the issue, hold the power button down on your console while your on the main dash/UI. Wait for the brick light to go to amber before disconnecting from main source. Repeat the above when powering up.
Let me know if this resolves the issue.
Did you resume the game from Instant On mode? A few games get broken or get buggy if you resume the game from Instsant On. Always quit and open the game if that is the case.
Never have “instant on” when playing games. Always a good idea to completely shutdown the console and boot it up “fresh” between sessions.
I have experienced the dreaded sound issue 2 times in the last week. It’s no where near as prevalent as it was in F5, but I am waiting to see if it gets worse.
It probably won’t get worse. If it does, you can clear Persistent Storage 3-4 times in a row, exit, quit, and do a hard reset (hold down power button until console shuts down).
To complete the hard-reset process, wait for the brick light to go from white to amber, then disconnect brick power. Wait 2-3 mins, reconnect brick, light goes from white to amber, then power up your console. Now it boots up 100% fresh.
Some folks don’t take that last step into account.
