Retailer-exclusive cars are BAD.

Come on guys. You got it right with FM6 by making the retailer-exclusive stuff just paint jobs, why in the world would you go back to this garbage?

Retailer-exclusive content should be meaningless fluff (if it’s even there at all), not something that actually matters.

I don’t want a disc and I do want cross-buy, so that means I have to buy it digital, but that means I’m stuck with the Merc C63 I could not possibly care less about and won’t have the chance to get the Ford GT350R until six months down the road when you eventually release it to the rest of us.

edit: To be clear I’m really hyped up about pretty much everything else about this game, but this particular detail is a VERY annoying step backwards. There is no way to spin this decision as good for the players, it’s all for the retailers.

edit2: Apparently the retailer-specific cars may be just tuned versions of standard cars. If this is confirmed to be true then that’s exactly what it should be and I retract my complaint.

edit3: Yep, confirmed. I trust BADNED to be accurate on this one. Move along, nothing to see here.

The 2016 R8 is a pre-order car, but also is a tier 4 reward.
So maybe there is a chance that the pre-order bonuses are just tuned variants of cars that are in game to everyone already. Hopefully someone can come by and clear this up for us.

I was angry about this at first but I think they may have edited the pre-order article. This quote ‘These cars will be tuned to the top of their class’ is shown just before the list. I’m now confident that the pre-order cars are just tuned versions of existing cars, exactly like those from FM6. So, good news!

100% with you on this. In fact I won’t buy this game unless they put these in as standard. I am sick of having content gated off for no reason. the hellcat was such a big deal for forza 6 but now it will be restricted to only gamestop buyers. & most of these cars are forza 6 DLC. I suggest that any & all fans boycott this game.

I don’t think anything as extreme as boycotting will be needed, looks to me like these are most certainly tuned version of cars already in-game.

I actually read your above post after typing that rant & yeah it appears that all of the pre-order cars are just tuned versions of cars that will be standard in game. I didn’t know the full context & I thought that the cars were being taken away from the base game & held for ransom by the retailers. but if that were the case then I stand by everything i said. but I isn’t & I’m glad. one question I have is that if these cars were taken out as “pre-order bonuses” would you stand with me & boycott?

BADNED on Forzacentral has confirmed they are just tuned versions of already existing cars in the game…settle down guys haha

We can all breathe easy now. Badned confirmed on Forzacentral that these cars are just pre-tuned versions with special liveries and that none of those cars are exclusive, just like in FM6!

Link to BADNED quote? I took a quick look but couldn’t find it.

No, I wouldn’t boycott the game, certainly not. I wouldn’t be happy about it of course, but I definitely wouldn’t boycott it. I love Forza Horizon and I certainly wouldn’t want to miss out even if I were unhappy about the pre-order cars. But that’s just me. I don’t boycott things really unless something’s extreme and unforgivable.

I’m a bit out of loop here, so forgive me, but does BADNED have any contact with the development of the games or he is just an user like us?

I don’t believe it’s ever been 100% clear what BADNED’s relationship with T10 is, but they’ve been a reliable source of inside information since the early games.

No but he wants you to think he has.

Is there a link to the retailer-specific car list?

Thanks. MSoft Store it is for me.

Actually, to be clear: “Microsoft Store” means I order it online from Microsoft.com, right? I don’t have to walk into a brick-and-mortar location?
