Regarding about savefile safetyness from corruption

how is the system with forza horizon 6 saves file? and how will they handle about save files corruption like what happen before at fh3 fh4 and fh5. i had lost couple of save file from fh3 and fh4 because those save become corrupted when i load it after reinstalling my windows (which i will do it too in the future). so im still curious its this will be happening at fh6 too because i can see even fh5 player experience this case too. just need a reassurance before buying because i cant stand another losing save file from hundreds hrs of gaming just because i reinstall windows or that game.

How many times has your save file corrupted? It’s only been once for me. It’s made me extremely weary but if you’re careful enough (such as letting the game sync data even if it takes forever) you shouldn’t have issues

Since you’re on PC, just periodically save them manually for backups, even if you need to reinstall your OS, backup your savegame first located below before reinstalling..

C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.624F8B84B80_8wekyb3d8bbwe\SystemAppData\

Just save everything what’s in the SystemAppData folder to somewhere else.. then when done reinstalling your OS, after redownloading FH5, just place the backup savegame files where is originally located, and after the game launched and syncing your data in the game server, just choose the one located locally in your PC..

PS: Actually if you reinstalling your OS, you don’t need to redownload FH5 installation files, just move the current FH5 game to another drive temporary before reinstalling your OS, then disconnect your 2nd drive before reinstalling, once done reinstalling your OS, update MS Store and login to your account and install Xbox app, the Xbox will find your previous FH5 installation files and linked back to your MS account, then you can move them back to you main drive or C drive.. and you’re done, no more waiting redownloading, and no more redownloading your savegame from the game server, instead your local savegame files will be uploaded and updating the one in the game server once you run your FH5..

Note; works for FH3 FH4 FH5 FM2023.. and I think it would be the same for FH6 as well.. hopefully..

a lot bro fh3 twice with once when i reinstall my windows and second time when i install it to new pc which is recently for reminiscing purpose but what i got is i cant load my savefile from cloud.

fh4 is 3 times with the first one being 1k hrs playtime which happen just weird suddenly when i hop on to the game next day it tells my save corrupted and cloud is corrupted too so after many hopeless attemp i lose that save. next and next i build a new save running fine and time skip to install it to my new pc and… my savefile gone again. so i kinda have trauma and skip fh5 whatsoever and now i do interested to fh6 but just want to know if they are still using the same broken system or not because i never have this problem with other game like witcher 3 etc even ubisoft handle this better.

thanks for the tips btw i will make sure to remember it when cleaning up my windows again

next is i mean there is gonna different file from cloud right when cloud is corrupted? what my experience is the system tells my fh4 savefile is missmatch or invalid profile when i do it and after that just makes me frustate and leave the game for good. what can i do when cloud is corrupted and when using backup the system tells my profile is invalid or savefile is mismatch?

what can i do when cloud is corrupted and when using backup the system tells my profile is invalid or savefile is mismatch?

That’s what the purpose of making backup of your local savegame file located in C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.624F8B84B80_8wekyb3d8bbwe\SystemAppData\

Save the Helium and wgs folders for FH5, but only wgs folder for FH3 & 4..

The causes what makes your clouds saving corrupted can be anything, sometimes there’s some delays when the game automatically updating your cloud saves whilst you’re playing FH5 because of the traffic on your local ISP was on busy hours, this may cause the game automatically save the game progress automatically to your local drive, but not necessarily at the same time or immediately after that to your cloud savegame data..

Therefore the next time you launched FH5, there would be notification popped up notifying there’s some difference data between your cloud save and your local save, sometimes the one on the cloud says it’s newer from the local save based on time it was saved, but the cloud’s savegame progress was actually behind from the one that was saved to your local..

That’s why if you’re not sure which one is the updated one like you thought it was, just choose update it from your local save when the game synchronizing..

And as for the case being “invalid profile”, make sure your MS or Xbox account has no problem when login to MS Store and Xbox app, you can play the game with different Xbox account logged in to Xbox App, but make sure you’re logged in to MS Store with your account when you bought the game, because the game digital license is attached to your main MS Account..

When you already logged in to MS Store with your main MS account but then the “invalid profile” issue still popped up, then try to login to MS website with your internet browser with your main MS account also with Xbox account, make sure all of them logged in successfully, otherwise you may need to reconfirm and verify that one or both your MS and Xbox accounts are really yours, when done verifying them I’d suggest you to activate two steps verification just to be safe..

I’ve been experiencing the same kind of issues back in FH4, and the causes was actually because of “busy hours” at my local place that makes it seems like the game has issues with corrupted saves on the game server.. no it was not, but the “busy hours” internet traffic delays or prevents the game to save progress to the game server, and yet at the same time.. it also saves the game progress to my local drive.., and therefore I used to make backup at least once a week back then when playing FH4, but not so much when playing FH5.. I backup my FH5 savegame at least once a month..

Another tips so you don’t need to clean up your Windows OS too often, after you done reinstalling your PC with brand new clean reinstallation, make sure you make backup with Windows 7 backup method from Windows Control Panel Menu for your C drive to external drive, next time you need to clean up again, move your FH5 or FH4 to your 2ndary local drive 1st.., therefore your backup image size would not be so huge on your external drive, and just link back you FH4 or 5 once you’re done restoring your C drive from the backup image file from your ext drive..

PS: Once you’re done restoring your Win OS to its clean state, just copy and paste the Helium and wgs folders back to your C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.624F8B84B80_8wekyb3d8bbwe\SystemAppData\ .. back and choose to your local drive savegame when the game synchronizing.. and you’re done.. that’s it

this is what i mean bro, this save file system really not necessary i mean of every game i played only forza have broken save system like this. we can see another live service game even cheap mobile gacha games doesnt have this savefile missmatch even when you disconnected mid saving they just roll back to a minute before. i dont know why for almost a decade or maybe more forza never want to upgrade their saving system and making consumer really suffer from this save file system. if fh6 still using the same broken system im more reluctant to buy the game

doesnt have this savefile missmatch even when you disconnected mid saving they just roll back to a minute before

Well if you put it that way.. I’d say it only happened to FH4 and FH5, mostly FH4, never happened to me for FH3 and FM2023..

I don’t know why but if we pay close attention to FH4 and FH5, there’s always a time when I was busy making liveries then the “disconnected” in-game notification popped up.. and only happened to FH4 and FH5..

To fix that and get reconnected again I have to go outside the house or festival and get back in to continue what I was doing.., but then the day cycle changed.. and I can’t continue making liveries because it’s dark on the parking way, I personally don’t like making liveries inside the festival garage because it’s either too shiny or some times some angle were too dark when detailing.., and this issue never happened in FH3 and FM2023..

As for the “mismatch” you mentioned.. I understands that as “invalid profile” issue, and I think this is a different subject, this might be more related to the security of our MS and/or Xbox accounts, as this happened I think it’s either someone or bot trying to override or hack the account, as it happened to my Steam account sometime ago, fortunately I was able to recover my Steam account with proofs of purchases..

So I think with the mismatch “invalid profile” issues.. it’s more something to do with the user account’ security.. like what happened in this link subject.. someone can open one of my wrap designs in FH3, then change it and made it as their own.. and then shared it on FH5 published it as their own..

So when or before that happened.. some accounts may need to re-login to MS account via web version to fix and secure the accounts before losing the account entirely..

Therefore imo corrupted savegame issue and “invalid profile” issue are two separate subjects, if one of my FH3 design was indeed stolen, the possibilities for tuning saves and even taking over any account because of that account may have rare cars and tons of credits are possible, and this is more close to why “invalid profile” issue occurs, while on the other hand.. corrupted savegame issue is more connected to the local ISP traffic..

But at least for me by making savegame backup helps me to restore what I might been lost (in case that happen) otherwise..

so in way we can use this backup file if anything happen and there is not gonna crash the xbox account progression or cloud thingy when i put backup to the game saves right? i mean the game will be seamlessly just using the backup and upload it again to cloud with no other problem whatsoever?

if so i will try to give it a chance then because im not lying bro losing 1k hrs progression is bad enough that i dont buy fh5 because fh4 really give me that trouble and locking me out from the game (because i dont know why the save file is corrupted but fh4 always tells me to repair the game back then and for ms store there is no repair option only reinstall from scratch). and my friend who crack this game never have to deal with this thing its so weird

so in way we can use this backup file if anything happen and there is not gonna crash the xbox account progression or cloud thingy when i put backup to the game saves right? i mean the game will be seamlessly just using the backup and upload it again to cloud with no other problem whatsoever?

Yes.. and no it won’t give you other problem..

So here’s step by step how to use your savegame backup to restore your game progress and upload them to the game server..

After you’ve made savegame (Helium and wgs folders) backup, assuming you’ve just done finish doing new clean reinstallation of your Win OS, linked back your FH4 installation files via Xbox App, ..

At this stage your local FH4 savegame folder is still empty, note; the directories example above is for FH5, for FH4 it should be like this;

C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.SunriseBaseGame_(FH4-GameBuiltVersion)_8wekyb3d8bbwe\SystemAppData\

Just copy paste your latest FH4 savegame backup to your “Users” directory.., then when you launched FH4, at synchronization process the game will ask you to choose which savegame you want to load, the one on the game server or the local one, choose the local one.. and then click next for the game to finish uploading process.. (this would overwrite your savegame on the game server)

I know exactly how your pain losing hours progression, I even lost about a month or two length period and many of my liveries got wiped out because my latest savegame backup was about 2 months old when I restored it, this is the main problem with FH4, but almost never in FH5 as I rarely use my FH5 savegame backup to restore it..

If I remember it correctly, this was because FH4 were too dependent with its teredo settings connection requirements, so just to be safe, make sure you setup your teredo connection manually using group policy editor.., so before launching FH4.. open your Group Policy Editor by pressing win key + R and type in “gpedit.msc” without the quotes..

Once it open, go to Administrative Templates → Network → TCPIP Settings → IPv6 Transition Technologies → and double click on the last four settings on the right window menu;

  1. Set Teredo Default Qualified to enabled
  2. Set Teredo Refresh Rate to enabled
  3. Set Teredo Server name to enabled and type in “teredo.remlab.net” without the quotes for server name
  4. Set Teredo State to enabled, choose the Enterprise Client click apply and exit gpeditor

Press Win Key + R again and type in gpupdate then press Enter (so you don’t need to restart your PC)

When all of the above are done, try launching your FH4..

PS: Just to avoid all the hassle of Win 11, I would prefer to stay on Windows 10 with stand alone update build version 19045.6456; you can found in this link here, I make my own Lite version of my win 10 custom ISO installation using MSMG Toolkit (combined it with NTLite back and forth to remove things I don’t need when making my own version W10 22H2 Lite version for gaming); FH6 requires one of the latest updates to be able to download and run the game on Win 10, and that’s the build version I choose to integrate with W10 22H2 base version when making my own W10 Lite version..

Hope you join in FH6 as you skipped FH5..
