Bringing you racing and Forza news that you can put to good use. Rear View Mirror is your source for fun racing and car content as well as racing highlights.
This week we lead off with a cool announcement about Forza Motorsport and The Petersen Museum. Then it’s coverage of NASCAR and the final race for the 2014 DTM season.
One thing I am wondering about is if you think…well read the RVM and then post your answers and opinions.
See you tomorrow in the #loveletterstuesdayswithjohniwanna Twitch livestream on the the Forza Motorsport channel.
Thank you John for reading this ,
the Petersen Museum leaves me speechless !!
gorgeous!
and when I see the car special
hallloween I regrete do not have FH2 !! damned !!
the DTM highlights are brilliant , cars driven so fast , the checkered flag fireworks are fantastic , F1 take note. Also the cockpit view from the multi class race is great, i wish fm4 cockpit view was from the same view point, by the way,the cat and mouse paint is awesome…
NASCAR is like the NFL. contact sport. Here in Brazil there is also a championship stock car with many retired pilots of Formula 1 inclusive. too many accidents. I think that where there is competition there will be fights
Great RVM,something inside for every part of a racers heart in my opinion.
The Museum seems to be worth a flight,DTM is a must visit (easy when you live in germany),Lil Vixens paint is outstanding and Christian is a “god” for me since he tuned the Lotus T 124 in FM 4.
Great work,John…
My trip to The Petersen museum was incredible. I went with a friend and we ended up springing for the extra “vault” tour. I wasn’t sure what to expect of the tour but I figure why not check out everything I can while I am hear. The museum in its current layout was awesome, there were two floors of cars and what I really loved was the variety. Next to the room with the Mark 3 and the 250 GTO was Liberacis rhinestone creation (can’t remember but I think it was an older Rolls). I seriously can’t wait for the re-opening. As cool as the museum was I HIGHLY encourage any of you guys who make it out to take the vault tour. John has listened to me blab on and on about it but seriously it was an almost 3 hour tour of car after car after car in their garage. Stuff they didn’t have space for or that they would rotate in and out. Off the top of my head I remember Greased lightning, a ton of Boyd Codington hot rods, Cadzilla was there, the round door rolls (incredible), an older McLaren F1 car and even a gold plated DeLorean. It almost made you dizzy the amount of awesome that was in that place.
Pictures were not allowed in the vault but here are some cell phone shots I took inside the museum.
Sweet video with VoodooUomo. The interior is a great example of why I wonder people are so intense about the interior depictions of cars in the Forza game series.
Maybe the developers should keep an eye toward the “original” depiction when we first buy the cars, but then give us realistic “race” trim on the interiors from there on out once track modifications are undertaken.
Talladega represents the one NASCAR race I dedicate myself to watching every year. Not Talladega in particular, but I watch at least one NASCAR race in its entirety each year. Covering racing every week I am always in the know, and I do watch F1 and sports car racing whenever I can because I love it.
Watchign NASCAR is interesting for a non fan like me. It’s a wholly different type of racing. Running starts, ovals of varying degrees of ovalness, running in a pack like the Peloton. The drafting, the banging, the bumping it’s all a part of this kind of full-bodied racing. There is a lot to learn to understand it.
Things that push me away from being truly interested is the deluge of advertising, the unprofessional conduct of some of the drivers, and the fact that they race every week.
I don’t watch or like baseball either, and I gave up football a couple years ago. I guess there is only so much time a guy has to spend in front of the tube – which no longer uses tubes of course.
Snowowl, I like the idea of dressed up interiors for cars once they have been racified.
Happy Weds folks and I hope to see you in the Gauntlet challenge on the Forza Motorsport Twitch channel on Friday at 3pm.
I have several issues with NASCAR. The first of which is the left turns they constantly make. Yes I know they go to just two road courses every year but they race on a shortened version of each track. I would love to see them go to Road America, Road Atlanta and even COTA. The second issue is cautions and racing in the rain. On ovals I can understand not racing in rain, because of the lack grip on the circuit, but the road courses, they delayed a race a day because of rain several years ago. Just stick on some rain tires and a wiper and go. The cautions are put out for every tiny piece of debris, come on! Part of a spring falls out of a car and the yellow comes out for 5 laps to get it safely. Why does it need to be out for 5 laps to get it, one lap perhaps but 5. I stopped watching NASCAR 8 years ago and switched to V8 Supercars, F1, IRL, Sports car racing all types. I am curious to hear what everyone has to say on this topic, please respond
