Racing in Horizon 2

I downloaded the demo for Horizon 2 some time ago but was put off buying it because one of the first races i did had me blasting a super car across a random field which to me seemed stupid. I can understand racing a raptor across fields but a selection of super cars ??

Before I finally go out and buy the game, Is this something that occurs frequently in the races? i,e in a street race will i be expected to take short cuts across fields and off road in every race, or will it be a rare occurrence?

The reason I ask is what appeals most to me about the Horizon series is the open world forza motorsport style and thats why i liked the original Horizon. But this new one seems to have descended further into the arcade style racer like need for speed, which is something I’m not really a fan of.

Also i seem to have noticed a lot of com paining about problems/bugs ? is this a major issue, because if it is i would rather not have a repeat of test drive 2

Hmm, the “fielding” happens, not common and not rare, more or less every new serie of races you start consits of four races, out of that one’s usually off-road style…but you’re not going to cut through woods in each and every race, no.

Check YouTube for a better view on it, I just have a feeling this is pretty much the case, Vintagebeef has a full playthrough of FH2 for instance, Kurtjmac is playing through it as well and I’m sure there are loads of others too.

Bugs, all I can say is that I’ve had very little problems with the game, one crash when online and that’s pretty much it and I’m at level 170+ (not sure exactly), so I’ve played a bit more than a few hours, as some seem to be infected by bugs it’s hard to know whether or not you’ll encounter any, unfortunately.

The demo was bad for this game, I agree. I didn’t buy it because of it. However, after picking it up a couple days ago I regret not getting it when it came out! It’s fun and beautiful. I might not have got much else done this weekend, but that’s fine by me.

Neither Horizon games are anything like NFS.

There are 6 cities and each have a different mix of tracks. Nice is mainly tarmac for example.

When you run a supercar champinship you may have a cross country event but they are less common in supercar series and more common in rally car series.

At some stage you will be driving a supercar cross country though.

There are some tarmac circuit races and point to point. Some will keep you on the tarmac but so me will provide some off track opportunities.

After FH1 people asked for more freedom. They got it. Now some want less freedom.

Overall I think the game does take some acocunt of what car you are in.

Regarding the bugs, its only happening to some people. Just remember (if you buy the game) not to cancel any sync’s and let it download 100%, personally its one of my favourite games and if you were a fan of FH1 you’ll enjoy it.

Took the gamble and bought the game yesterday. having spent all night on it, I’m quite enjoying it.

The cross country events make sense for the 4x4s but I’m not a fan of them in the other categories. One thing I do really like is the rally stages with the variations of Tarmac and dirt but yet still sticking to the roads.

I see what your saing about people wanting more freedom and agree to a certain extent, sometimes it’s nice to just go off road and explore without having barriers in the way. Not a fan of having to plough blindly through trees though in races.
