R reverse

Is there a dial that tweaks Reverse speed? is there anything to this?

Isn’t it a fraction of 1st? I have no clue.

I thought it would be the Final Drive not 1st gear

Curious point… I wonder if that’s it. all
R aren’t created equal. How then can I juice up the power / speed of R? Sacrificing top speed?

You can control it by using more or less gas, just like every other gear. You don’t have to press the gas all the way, if you are using a Xbox one controller the trigger buttons act like real life gas and brake pedals, the farther you depress them, the more they work.
Or did I misunderstand the question?

I don’t think I am asking it correctly, your answer is nonetheless great. True.

I’ll try asking it this way: just as the gears are tunable I.E. Acceleration, speed, wide set ups, can i tweak the acceleration or top speed of Reverse?

Also, does the differential make a difference in how quick the reverse responds from down shifting, like say, the torque or acceleration…

Does this make sense?

I’m not talking about ‘Driving’ in and into and out from reverse from a play pov, j turns and use of physics, etc…

thanks!

This is interesting. I’ve never really even thought about it. Don’t spend too much time in reverse I doubt diff does anything barring the same that accel diff does tire spin.

You could play with final drive and document differences. And then race tranny and only do 1st gear and do the same with out moving FD.

I’m in reverse at least 40% of the time. (Seriously) very near 50, in non race situations etc…

I’ll give your experiment a shot. Thanks!

Need to find the right car to test it on …

Only the final drive affects the maximum speed you can go in reverse. I’ve tuned all of my cars to go in reverse around 100 mph, which requires more effort in tuning (in the sense that you have to rematch the forward gearings with the final drive you’ve set just for reverse). Lower the final drive and it will go faster in reverse, but if you’re an avid racer make sure to compensate between top speed in reverse and lowering the likelihood of stalling while backing up (if you run manual with clutch). It can take quite some time just for tuning the forward gears after you’re happy with the reverse speed you can get up to, but everything else that can be tuned doesn’t really affect what you’ve set for reverse through final drive.

Fantastic… I’ll give it a shot, 100 that’s super, thank you!

!! worked like butter… excellent, thanks again. super tip, yeah, the overall gearing did suffer here and there but not in a significant amount I’m noticing ‘much’ difference, the trade off for me is immeasurably worth it though.

I’ll keep an eye out for your tunes too!

Peace!
