It will be able to play PC games, but the question is will we be able and allowed to mod them?? It would suck to get a ban because you play a modded GTA San Andreas version with the Silent Patch installed for example.

can you run modded games on the Ally X ? handhelds dont interest me

tho if its your steam library…does anyone play vanilla skyrim?!

Wow, that’s surprising, I mean it’s obvious that Xbox needs to change something fundamental to still be competitive, but didn’t expect PC games on a console. I wonder how Playstation is gonna answer to this.

to be fair, it’s been rumoured for months this is the direction they were going with new hardware. It’ll be more of a pc than a traditional console just with an xbox UI

re: Sony, recent speculation is that they will pull back from launching on PC and keep exclusives to themselves.

Xbox more open
Sony with exclusives.

Tho with the new head of Xbox, might see exclusives back! Who knows.

Ah ok, thanks for the info. This is definitely exciting, with the Gabe Cube and a PC-Xbox thing, this seems to become a fairly interesting year for gaming.

Well Steam will release a similar device but it will only be for PC games I believe. But you can install whatever OS you like since it’s really a PC. So it can be a server, Windows, Linux or the Steam OS it comes with. It sounds pretty interesting. But again, the best thing about PC games is the ability to install mods. If we’re unable to do that on the new Xbox then that’s a pretty big miss.

Had a quick browse

steam deck does support mods and software via the steam workshop.

if that ability is kept with Helix it would be pretty sweet.

I know the xsx supports mods with some games and only a certain size as well
