porsche 911 gt3 2016

Let’s pump the brakes and get some facts together before we go too far off on a tangent.

TORA isn’t an obscure league. If you’ve been racing in leagues on Forza for any amount of time (Forza 6 and titles before that), you’ve heard of TORA or been on their forums before. They’ve had series featured in the Week in Review articles a fair number of times, they’ve got nearly 4k followers on Twitter (Verified account, even)… They’re not small-time.

Second, quite a number of the drivers that race there are the same set of drivers that compete in the FRC. Again, they aren’t your momma’s weekly race-night sort of place. They’re organized.

Third, the idea of this series started back early this summer when talks began with Carrera Cup GB (real-life series) about cross-promotion of a TORA-hosted virtual equivalent. TORA was hoping to use a GT3 Cup car, but that car wasn’t added to Forza, so the 2016 GT3 RS was selected as an alternate. Then, when Forza 7 came out, it was discovered that this car was an “exclusive” car that you could only get by dumb luck (i.e. Loot Crate) or Forzathon (which wasn’t released at the time). The series and rule set had already been made public, so what were they to do?

TORA called in a favor, and Turn10 came in and saved their hide- They allowed those who signed up for the series to be gifted the car, but only the first 300 drivers. This way TORA didn’t do all that work to have their series that’s aligned with a real-life one to go to waste. The car still maintains an air of “exclusivity”, as I believe only 180-200 signed up for the series.

Is this an optimal solution? Absolutely not. Is it fair that many of us bought a game with 700+ cars only to discover that you can only get like 500 or so by normal means? Absolutely not. Do those drivers (which include myself) think that we deserve a car more than anyone else? No, we don’t, unless it was from a rival contest and we earned it… but that’s a whole different conversation about unicorn cars, which are fine in moderation but not when you have like 100+ on that list…

Anyway, TL;DR- Only reason people have this car is T10 doing a favor to one of the biggest racing leagues going or dumb luck via loot crate, not because some drivers were “privileged”.

You’re last paragraph completely contradicts itself. “Doing a favour” … “not privileged” lol

I’ve been playing Forza since its iteration, yet I don’t spend every waking hour checking the news feed, nor do I have any interest in signing up to T10 or TORA’s twitter feed. My portal to the game is almost purely in-game. The game has a message centre that was to form this very purpose was it not?

Sound’s like the smart thing to do would have been to confirm the car list with T10 before organising anything. Appears TORA are getting rewarded for assumptions and poor organisation

TORA cannot gift a car in game, only T10 can do that. So it does have something to do with T10 in that case.

Why couldn’t the tournament have used any of the other freely available cars? Comes off as nothing more than a mutual redacted exercise. Sorry, there’s no real justification for this move.

Personal opinion: these contests or events that grant exclusive cars should be seen as “early access to content” as opposed to an exclusive reward not to be offered to others at a later time.

I’m fine with waiting a month or two for access to content that was initially offered to a small number of people. I am not fine with advertising that claims a certain amount of content to be included with a product when the average player doesn’t actually have access to all of it.

When will this car be available? Thanks

This! This is the one car I wanted to drive over any other.

It’s cool though I’ll just occupy myself with the Huracan Performant… oh hold on…

Still, the 720S should be cool to drive so I’ll go with that…uh…

Never mind, the 675LT will do for now… :frowning:

What you complainin bout? FM7 launched w/ 700 cars with 2 new, never seen before production models in the FM series.

The only car I think I don’t have is the 2016 Porsche GT3. Kind of bummed I missed it. Would like to see it in Specialty Dealer sooner or later, they just need to stop with the duplicates already.

I missed the Porsche too, but i been pretty busy with 700 cars that are available.
They should atleast throw in one new car a week other wise its a wasted feature even if you like the system.

The list in previous posts contains 110 “unobtainable” vehicles and being 2 months old is obviously out of date. Whilst the unlocking of vehicles has been slower than many of us had hoped, it’s possible that the extended Xmas break has caused some delays. The number of vehicles for which unlocking details have never been provided is now less than 60.

Settle down dude. I’m not too worried, it’s only a video game

I was being sarcastic…I think its utter horse dookey that 700 vehicles were advertised where only 2 were new production models, meanwhile the first car pack introduced more new content than the entire base game. I hate that they intentionally pull content in order to push DLC sales.

Haha I couldn’t tell lol

Yeah it sucks a little. Car roster doesn’t feel new like it should.
Iirc all the good stuff in the car packs for FH3 came after the packs for the car pass had ended. Hope that’s not the case this time and we’re not waiting another 6 months to use the 720S and Performante etc.

I do like the game but In it’s present state I don’t see me still being interested in it a half year down the line.

The 2016 GT3 RS May get my hopes up again though…

“The 2016 Porsche 911 GT3 is only intended to be used in races with TORA and it’s arranged tournaments”

One of the most ridiculous lines I’ve ever seen on this forum. Where was it ever stated by T10 that this car would only be available for this TORA series and no one else?

Hello guys, please excuse my ignorance I’m new to Forza 7. When I first played the game i went to purchase the 2016 Porsche 991 GT3RS but couldn’t as i wasn’t a high enough tier but the car was there to be viewed. Now that i am a high enough tier i went back to purchase the car but it wasn’t on the dealer screen, checked auction house and no option for it. Checked car collection and it wasn’t there either, wheres it gone?

Scroll right to see all cars in a given Tier. See previous posts for discussion.

Don’t care about special people in special leagues with special Turn 10 deals. If anything, such a deal puts me off from Turn 10 products and TORA.

No content in a game I paid for should be unobtainable by playing the game. I paid for this content, not TORA. I did not pay so others could gifted content I cannot obtain.

Further, it would seem to be poor marketing on TORA’s part to be part of something that effectively gives the finger to 99% of the Forza Motorsports customer base - from which they would presumably need to draw future competitors in order to grow.
