Players show on map, not in game

Having a constant issue with players not showing in game but showing on map. For instance, I can look at the map and it show there could be 5 players with me at the drag strip. However, when I return to the game they are not there and not on mini map. It’s quite discouraging as I like to find people to tag along and play with while in Horizon Online.
This is not to say that I don’t see anyone in game. Players are there at times, but not always as shown on map.
Same thing happens after Forzathon events. Players will disappear from game, but if I were to look at the map there will be 10 players around me.
Anyone else experience this? I haven’t seen anyone else talk of it?

Constantly have this issue on fortune island. Bunch of people on the map, but not in game. Pull up to a live event and there’s absolutely no one there even though the main map shows a bunch of people all around me. Then right at the end of the countdown, poof, everyone magically appears. After the final round, half the people instantly disappear. Not like pause and return to showroom, but just vanish mid flight or careening past me.

I get it all the time mostly on fortune island. On the map it always shows a bunch of people on the drift road but I’m lucky if I actually see one or two people. Sometimes I can see a couple of these ghost people if I go into photo mode. It’s weird. I also get the same bug with forzathon live as PYCCKNN XYN but for me the people usually don’t disappear after the end but occasionally they do. (PC user)

i have the same issue here on Xbox in fortune island: always dozens of people on the map but i can see only 2 or 3 of them when i go in game or on the minimap …
i’ve read that they might be in an event so that would be why they don’t appear in game: if it is the case, that is really confusing and frustrating.

i don’t believe much in that theory:
you can see on the map that people are going back and forth on the “drift road” in fortune island, waiting for each other on the top or bottom of the hill.
they don’t seem to be in some kind of race or forzathon or whatever, much like in some free roaming

to me it is a bug or something and i was hoping the last update from a few weeks ago would fix this …
