Physics Modifications For Different Gamemodes

For multi-player game modes, we need to have different physics preset modifications in public hoppers.

For example: Playground modes should have a more bouncy collision effect while the current FM physics could stay the same as they are for the new game so that racing collisions aren’t bouncy. Bouncing physics can make for some great custom games as well.

No, this is horrible, and we definitely shouldn’t do this. There’s no logical reason for the game to play and function totally differently in different modes. This is Forza Motorsport and should play as Forza Motorsport in all Forza Motorsport modes. If we want something that plays differently, we can play something different.

Forza Motorsport can’t suffer an identity crisis. It needs to know exactly what it is and be exactly that 100% of the time.

I feel like this idea would be really strong only if the selected setting are dictated by the server when they’re public servers. In private servers the host would have control of the physics preset in the settings right near the weather and other settings.

I agree, collision bounces used to be the best, especially with classic game modes like soccer and virus. The toggle option for this gives the private lobby more freedom and sort of follows similar traits to the already in-game grip percentage adjustment settings. Don’t get me wrong, I like being able to feel like driving on ice sometimes, but the collision slider, or toggle, is a plus too.

to chime in on this, this could be a fantastic feature if done right. the physics in the online hoppers need to stay as they are, the old bouncy contact physics were hell in public lobbies.

BUT

in private sessions, with you and your mates, you should be able to have those old bouncy physics back.

i remember back on FM5, me and my friends used to set up races against the drivatars where we would be in big SUV’s and put the drivatars in fiat 500s. sending those little fiats flying across the circuit was some of the funniest moments i’ve had gaming with my mates.

being able to have a balance of realistic contact in a public lobby, and free reign over how cars collide in your own private session would be great.

I remember when FM7 released, it had different collision effects when it launched. A month later, it was changed and all my friends were complaining about it. My biggest take here is that this is a motorsports game with near-sim tendencies.
I know for a fact that races were far worse and nearly unplayable whenever a nooby kid caused a bouncing chain reaction effect and trolled the lobby. This was significantly nerfed when the collisions did barely anything and they slid on by upon contact without bouncing effects. To this, I am greatful for their patching and see far less trolling happening.
Now the fun factor - When it comes to non-racing game modes, by all means let the physics be more chaotic. I never had a problem with it and often joined up in virus to drag race and watch my cars bounce around and get tons of air time. It was actually awesome.
To appease both sides of this coin, and to introduce both physics at once? I’m not so sure how they would do it, but I do like the idea here due to its unique angle and potentially solving the divide of the community. It’s a great idea to me.
