The more I play FH3 (on Xbox) the more I am annoyed by 5 things:
First of all and most annoying: delay in reactions to my button commands only because some cr*p is displayed or said. Examples:
leaderboards are displayed after passing speed camera / passing through drift zone (not drifting at all) / etc. = I have to wait till the message disappears to see game menu, continously tapping the freakin menu button. Exactly the same applies to rewind button. [edit] It happens even right now! I am playing at the moment and whatever message is displayed, no other button that gas and break work - no menu, no rewind.
something happens that I want to rewind = no I can’t rewind at this moment, because Anna is mumbling some cr*p about “bucket list nearby” or such
The sound in Horizon Festival locations. Why there are 2 tracks layered over each other with some delay? Why when I am changing or buying cards I must listen to sound like I was in some horrible concrete bunker? It sounds worse than horribly! Funny thing: it is enough to open “Forzavista” to hear only one track - no annoying echo from concrete bunker. So is it a bug when I am inside Festival location but not in Forzavista?
Rewinding bugs:
I play some head to head challange. No matter when I use rewind for the first time (in the middle of the challenge track or near its end) first rewind step is very short (like 1-2 seconds) and I can’t rewind further - no more steps are available. If I will try to rewind for the second time, after driving some distance then everything is fine - I can rewind normally, with several steps more.
I rewind as much as possible and try to do something hard for me once more. I haven’t succeeded in second try so I am rewinding again as much as possible and again. And then suddenly after few such retries the amount of rewind steps is limited - the very last step or last 2 steps are unavailable to rewind… I just can’t go back to the same moment any further. Or sometimes whole rewind becomes impossible - I just try to rewind even just for the second time after some unsuccessful attempt and then surprise - I can rewind only one step back and only 2-3 seconds. No more rewinding steps is possible
Impossible to make head to head challenge: I want to challenge some drivatar and I can drive behind it for many minutes and the glorious “press A to challenge” does not show. I must restart the game.
Game freezes on my Xbox and even crashes. My PC is weak (only GFX 750Ti) so I play there on lowest settings but in 1650 x 1050 resolution and sometimes it stutters, but never freezes there. It crashed on PC only when I tried to go above lowest possible details level. But on Xbox? I often have some single freezes (NOT stuttering!), lasting less than 0,5 second. And how many crashes I have in FH3… This is the only game that freezes and crashes for me! This is relatively new Xbox (October 2016), Elite version with 1TB SHDD. What is going on? Is FH3 really such suboptimized and bugged? I like this game very much because of the gameplay and idea, but when it comes to the quality of how it works I am definitely not happy.
I’ve never had this issue. I can access the menu with the start button regardless of what is being displayed on screen with no delay.
I think this is intentional which is pretty strange. They want to give the vibe of driving past a concert venue and hearing it from next to the venue but the effect is too strong. Also, why is there never any bands on stage. Everyone stands around 24/7 which is odd. The music never stops and even people standing in random spots in the country are cheering, jumping, and clapping. Check out the guys cheering at the water on the rocks at the end of the pier.
Oh yeah #1 is a right pain and makes multiple attempts at drift zones and such very annoying with the delay while it tells you your record, the stars, where you are on the leaderboard, what it had for breakfast, and various other things you do not care about one scrap; it all just delays the process. Why on earth it can’t handle more than one thing at once is a mystery, but that just adds insult to injury. The same is true for trying to fast travel to discovered bucket list events or stunt events - instead it gives the leaderboard, which I could not give two hoots about. In 2 we could fast travel to the buckets at least, but hey, that was also back when buckets were hard and actually took many attempts, especially in coop.
Also, if you turn off the sound completely, I have seen it bug out and never take away the notification that someone is speaking, so you can never progress. They couldn’t have just done subtitles? In 2 on the 360 we could even skip Ben’s dialog, which was a great relief after playing it on the One. Only a shame that other things are less than excellent there.
They screwed rewind something chronic this time around. Especially with very long races like multi-lap Goliaths, rewind eventually bugs out completely - I had it put me back a good 5 minutes in one go, with no warning, and then it stopped resetting the drivatars so they were suddenly miles ahead. By comparison it worked flawlessly in FM6 on the endurance showcase races, although even there it eventually stopped doing the rewind animation and just flashed a black screen.
The first bit about the drift zones, speed zones, speed traps, and danger signs (did I miss anything) is something that simply takes making the rewind or regular menu buttons top priority over the small bit of UI each completed attempt and the audio for getting a better star rating. The fast travel thing is because that command is mapped to the exact same button as the leaderboards button, which I like to see more than fast traveling (it’s annoying to need to travel to the track/event just to see the leaderboards on it). If they mapped the leaderboards to Y and got rid of THAT shortcut to buy the stupid treasure map that you’ll never buy (put it in the DLC section, ONLY, please!), we would all be happy.
When I started playing and learning the physics and the tracks, I was running into the issue with the Rewind losing its memory and not being able to go back any usable amount because I was using it A LOT. Now, I’m not using it nearly as much as I’ve gotten a LOT better, but I’m also not doing as many races in the campaign because I’ve completed it, and am only really still playing to fish for the HE cars, to toy with some cars I didn’t get to drive, and to get the Forzathon/event cars (I have 4 Warthogs). Now, I actually prefer it to flash a black screen like in Forza 6 when in a good number of laps on the endurance races, as I know where I am and how fast I was going at that point and I don’t need the animation to show me and waste my time.

In the end, I feel that T10 has just been going downhill in terms of game quality because I think that it’s more just a Microsoft game than a T10 one. There is a LOT of details skipped out on or corners cut and it greatly shows as soon as you dig a little, and it’s not hard on a programming aspect to change the non-buggy stuff. For example, when am I going to be able to whiz through the menus with inputs that don’t need to wait on the UI again, when am I going to be able to sort my searches on the file browser again, and why can’t I PREVIEW the liveries before I decide to download them (was able to do so in FM4 for all 3)?
