[PC] No FFB and framedrops

I bought the digital standard version for PC about 4 days ago and I tried almost everything to solve my problems without success.

  1. My Fanatec CSW 2 with the BMW GT2 Wheel is up to the latest drivers and firmware. It’s working but there is no ffb at all.

  2. The game runs at 60fps (shown by the in game fps counter), but every 2-3 seconds I’ve got frame drops/stutters, with the fps counter showing 15-20 FPS for a second.

The system is a fresh Win10 Professional 64Bit installation on a new SSD, both setup 4 days ago.

Can someone help me with this issues?

Okay, I got the ffb issue sorted out with a new driver re-install… but the stutter issue stays the same, no matter what I do…

My systems is capable of 60 fps, so I don’t think the problem is because of too low spec hardware. Had anyone the same issue and got it working? It’s unplayable as is, help is very appreciated!

Go into your Nvidia control panels global settings and make sure that the power management mode is set to “adaptive” or “performance”. By default the driver sets it to the power saver mode which makes the Forza games stutter sometimes. It happened to me with Forza APEX until I set it to “adaptive”. Another thing that causes stuttering for some is a program called “game bar presence writer” (or something to that effect). It starts when you start the game. Open your task manager, start the game then look in the task manager for the task and stop it. Go back in game and see if it helps the stutter. Also make sure “game mode” setting is turned off in the game bar. You can turn off “game bar” completely in the windows settings but I read that you still may have to do it for each game separately. One of these things may help but for some people I guess nothing has worked. Luckily my game has run smoothly for the most part until I play past a certain amount of time then I stutter and get severe frame rate drops until I restart the game…

Thank you for your reply, sadly it doesn’t help…

Is there an official statement from T10 support regarding this issue? I mean, it seems that I’m not the only one running into this issue. At least it’s a performance PC that can maintain 60fs, but there must be something causing these framedrops. I think it’s not related to the CPU/GPU/RAM ressources… so it must be software related and T10 has to solve this.

Two things you could try:

  1. Move your Forza install to the HDD, people claim less stutter when NOT installed on SSD.

  2. this: https://forums.forza.net/turn10_postsm949512_Forza-7-PC-stuttering.aspx#post_949512 read the whole thread as there are many workarounds mentoined there.

This is how I run FM7 and it never drops below 75 FPS at 5770x1080 on a i7 3770/GTX 1080 8GB.
