For me, it’s the same thing. Since the update, the launcher launches, there is written launch of the game in progress (1 sec up to 30s max) and then either it throws me the small rectangle and nothing more or it displays me “the game has crashed, error code 0x0”. Do you think they will make a patch quickly?
PS: I have not done all your manipulations, because I have a rotten connection and I do not know how to pass from D: or C: or vice versa. Do you think their fix or patch will solve the problem if I don’t do the reinstallation manips? If I reinstall the game, will I lose all my progress?
If you’re on W10/11, go to Settings > Apps and find FH5. You’ll have the option to move it to a different drive. Moving the game to D:\ made no difference for me, but when I moved it back to C:\ it was working again, albeit quirkily.
I don’t believe the game itself is the issue, hence reinstalling it seems unnecessary. This appears to have more to do with MS gaming services having issues.
If I move the game to my external hard drive and bring it back to my laptop, could it work? Will I lose my progress if I do this?
It seems crazy that they haven’t released a patch to fix this.
I’ll try that right now, and I’ll get back to you.
Thank you very much friends, you saved me, it worked!
For the others, I know absolutely nothing about computer science so if I succeeded you can too. Anwulf’s message was very self-explanatory and I changed the game from C: to D: (thanks to an external hard drive) and then redirected it back to C: and now it works!
Thats not always working. My setting there is C:\XboxGames since ever and it ignored it whole time. Same with Starfield, Motorsport(preinstall) everything was/is in WindowsApps
Moving the game around wasn’t working for me - only thing changed was that I was able to get an error message (0x0).
Trying new install now - if that doesn’t work I’ll leave it like that as I’m sick of those monthly issues.
Tried to launch the game tonight to game a little bit, and the game won’t launch. Tried resetting my PC, checked for updates, “repaired” the game, and still nothing. Anyone else having the same problem?
Encountered the same issue today, and chose to just move the game from where it originally was (C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.624F8B84B80_3.614.70.0_x64_), but a few hours after completion I have discovered that the game and it’s full size still exists there, and in two other directories (C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\MSIXVC) and (C:\XboxGames)… so now Forza Horizon 5 is taking up a total of 415.35GB on my C drive! This is a little bit ridiculous to say the least.
I am going to try manually clearing the first two directories in hopes of freeing up some space on my SSD again, because a 140GB game shouldn’t be taking up nearly half a TB of space! Talk about un-optimized moving process Microsoft!
(and a secondary note, why can’t the Rally DLC be uninstalled? Also an annoying bug…)
The team is aware of the impact of this issue and currently investigating. We’ll let you know when we have a status update.
We have observed some players reporting that reinstalling the game on your C: drive in the Xbox Games folder and running as Administrator has resolved the issue for them.
Im on w11 on a laptop with no other drive options, looks like I’m going to have to reinstall. I’ve passed it on to my son to try to find a solution
Cheers mickcrosoft
Ps I’m on a slow Internet connection probably wont finish this weeks playlist
I began the process to move it, but the move tool seems to have other ideas. My plan was to move it to another folder on the same drive it’s already on - thinking that would usually be a very fast/easy operation.
Turns out the move tool flags that drive as not having enough available space (only 55 GB), because it’s not taking the fact that the game is already on that drive into account.
The bigger issue is that it will no longer allow me to specify a different drive/destination to target… so it seems like I won’t be able to move it unless I manage to free up a significant chunk of space - which is something I’d rather avoid.
