Overwriting tune file

I hope this will save someone my mistake. I am not a fast driver my any means and just play around with tuning but not good. I put together a tune myself and ran some a couple top 100 times and several top 1% times and had the tune shared. The more people post good times with it the more my tune gets posted so the more it’s downloaded etc. I have a first time Forza friend who drives with a controller and doesn’t do well with manual on one. I think the auto short shifts on all the gears loosing the best part of your power curve. I made a trans geared more to an auto shifting better for him in that car so he would be faster in auto. Seeing I liked that tune already I just adjusted the gearing some and to make it simple for my friend, I overwrote my file. I thought then he would know the right thing tune to download. It worked and he got it and liked it a lot. I changed it back and shared it again as it was. What I did not think about was that when I unshared it to overwrite it everybody who used my tune had it available to download my tune. Well it unshared all those too. Sure I can beat my time again and post my setup to download then, but all the people who had times posted by my tune will not be able to have people downloading my tune. It was my fault and it even had a safety are you sure question, just didn’t think of all the downloads being effected.

The people who downloaded your tune before you unshared it can continue using it and will continue to have the share file. No one else can get it though.

That’s good news! I thought if someone downloaded it and puts in a good time in rivals they then display my tune to download. I thought I just took that away as well. So what you are saying is that they can still use my tune and if they get a time registered on rivals it will still let someone else download the tune from the person who originally downloaded it’s? Gosh this sounds confusing, I hope you understand what I am trying to ask. LOL

when adjusting a tune just create a new name and share it as a separate tune, then you can delete one without affecting the other. turn ten need to drastically raise the tune limit tho. if you have a car that you never change the tune on you can apply the tune to that car without saving and the tune will stay on the car without useing a save slot as long as you dont want to (or cant because its someone elses tune) share it.

Good advice rdo3, I will be doing that from now on. Easy is not always better.

The original tune file isn’t deleted from people who already downloaded it, but nobody else can download it. I guess the ‘tuned by’ still shows as you, but there won’t be a download option.

Thanks for the explanation Ma5hEd. Lesson learned by me.
