In their recent article about FRR, Turn 10 mentioned ideas surrounding Racing Etiquette, how to promote it rather than enforce it. So we have to wait and see what comes out of this…
That happens quite often when u are on defensive.
I got my biggest penalties (all of them not deserved) when I slowed down not to hit the cars in front of me. Because when you do that people behind you ram you and you get the penalty not them. Don’t expect clean racing till they fix the flawed penalty system.
That paragraph is the best example of what is wrong with Trun 10
Talk about double speak.
We have guidelines but haven’t published them.
We want people to play properly, without telling them how to play.
Idiots.
Every sport has rules. They are published and there are penalties for infractions. It is clear and why SO many people play FIFA, or NFL, or NBA because it is “fair” - the rules are in place and enforced, violations are adequately handled.
Without penalties and removal of bad apples by time outs, forced to pit, ghosted, engine cut, towed off track, banning, etc - it is NOT racing. It is just a smashem up game and the bad apples are all that are left to push the huge majority of players away.
Titles that have massive online players keep it clear and simple, rules matter, without rules, it’s not improving accessibility, but literally indicating to 90% of players that online is to be avoided as it’s just frustration and unfair without proper rules and enforcement.
The fun modes, like virus tag, and car bowling, and cat and mouse, etc had clear rules and they were played extensively.
Having only a basically no-rules, or barely any rules mode is fine, but when that’s all there is, it’s far too little except for the tiniest small few who actively refuse to play anything else.
And replays cut off at about 8 or 10 mints so saving replays for evidence is slim.
Not having unlimited automatic replay saves, even right to OneDrive, especially on PC with huge amounts of space to use as we should be able to choose, is creating more and more issues. If you want online ramming, that limitation greatly helps it to not be reported. If you want to use reports to “see” state of things, then just make it so the reports are skewed… so frustrating.
But at least other games are fantastic and we have choices. I am baffled by players wanting to give money for implementing optional features and then being shown with so many actions - online players or their money are not it. And that pattern and mindset is doing great for competitors.
That’s what we want people to think… bwhaahaaa!
“Forcing another racer off the track" is what is punished the most in real life. In Forza Motorsport 2023, this is rewarded. I’ve never seen the “hooligan” who pushed me off the track receive a penalty in “online racing” in this game. Never ever! No, you and only you will receive a penalty for leaving the track. And if you touch your opponent, you get 4 seconds. You have touched, as opposed to “rammed”.
And if you leave the track, you will be punished. Usually allredy the first time.
To be honest, I’ve made my peace with Forza Motorsport 2023 by only playing what’s necessary to avoid regression.
I hope the day comes when you can play Forza Motorsport for hours on end again.
At the moment I play 2 hours on Thursdays and 10-20 minutes every other day during the week.
I’m not giving up hope that this game will be the game that thrilled me back then. There are many games, but I was only ever excited by Forza Motorsport. You can still play the tracks from the earlier Forza editions.
Dum spiro, spero.
(As long as I breathe, I hope.)
Dum tempus habemus operemur bonum.
(Let us do good while there is still time.)
And the good thing we can do is to support T10 to help Forza Motorsport reach its former greatness.
(I spend more time in the forum than in the game. That also makes me think. I used to just play and enjoy.)
They really need to give up on this AI penalty system. It doesn’t work. A year after launch, it doesn’t work. There are tried and true penalty systems that have proven to be effective for years, yet they want to reinvent the wheel.
Real people watching a live race don’t agree who was at fault, how in the world is AI going to figure out? There are infinite scenarios and tbh it seems like it’s getting worse. They claim something like close to 90% accuracy at assigning fault and I call absolute bs, almost every single race I get a penalty for absolutely nothing. Or I get wrecked and the person doing it receives nothing.
It’s beyond ramming, it’s the slight door rubs mid corner side by side that send you flying off the track, the tiniest “bump draft” shove right into the brake zone and off you go, brakes suddenly don’t work, tires have zero grip, zoooooom into the sand. I’ve yet to see someone get beyond a 0.50 penalty for any of that.
I just logged in this evening to run a few races. First race at Watkins in R class, mid lap I get bumped in the corner and get sideways, but recovered, just in time for 3 more cars to just drive straight through me. 20+ seconds behind on the first lap. That’s a quick alt+f4. It’s getting old and I’m at the point where I just turn the game off whereas before I would mostly tolerate it.
Still way better than FM7.
Oh, great… I feel better about it now. Lol
I have not had any issues at all with Ramming or anything with Collions, maybe because I run ABC’s or maybe the races are not 2-3 laps anymore.
The title of this thread. Maybe it’s directed towards other people than yourself, if you don’t share these issues.
Main issue is that, ai based frr
, always penalizes faster players, because ai thinks it’s impossible for u to got so fast there.
But if someone is slow overall they just won’t get penalized, since ai was thinking he was going with appropriate speed for this corner.
In many cases where u get rammed on corner entry or mid corner, and oponent don’t get penalty, it’s mostly because he was going slow in fast (high grip) car, while u were going fast in slow car (low grip).
