I have been playing Forza for a very long time. I am an avid racer and try to race as clean as possible. It seems in the ultimate version early release everyone else seems to be wanting to race clean as well.
But the contact in the game is ridiculous! I don’t mean that everyone is purposely shunting everyone off the track, what I mean is that if two cars barely touch, they both go flying off the track! Very un-realistic in this case. In Forza5 it was bad, but my friends and I could at least manage to all make it around the track even when a little bumping goes on for a pass. Forza 4 was great! We didn’t have a problem at all. BUT IN THIS GAME ITS HORRIBLE! I am scared to go for a pass because if I accidentally touch the car I am trying to pass he gets punted into the wall and I spin out of control. Even in the public lobbies its bad! I am have raced many online races and have yet to not see a huge first lap pile up because every car goes flying when everyone is trying to get through turn 1. I really hope there is going to be a patch for this! The racing has been ruined.
Yes it is a problem if you don’t like getting ran off the road every race, the good part is the longer races give you a chance to catch up. I decided to just run collisions free unless I race with some friends in a small private lobby. It may take some time, but eventually you will get some cleaner racing after the dust settles.
This isn’t new to Forza. Online has always been a troll festival at game launch. This one seems a bit worse as we have all the people from Horizon where bashing was the norm coming over to the new game. The collisions off lobby is the best way to get a break from bashers and still have a sense of social racing.
I’m surprised that so many apparently didn’t understand that it would be like this, the only solution to this problem is to join a serious racing league.
I don’t see it as a huge problem, there should be minimal contact as it is. The problem with online lobbies is the contact is almost always never minimal because people can’t drive.
Just an FYI guys the op seems to be complaining about how big a crash can be from barely touching someone - they are not complaining about griefers etc.
Op - what is your internet connection like? I have not experienced the issue as you have described however on my old 2meg connection I found that if there was any lag in the lobby that this would cause the issue you have described. I could be wrong but I do not believe this to be an issue caused by the game itself.
Check your NAT is showing as open - if not a quick Google search along with the model of your router will tell you how to fix that. And if you haven’t tried already a hard reboot of your Xbox will fix most issues.
I just upgraded my internet speeds, so I do not think the internet speed is the problem. I will check my NAT type, I have not that about that.
To everyone else. He is right, I am not complaining about the amount of contact, I understand people can’t drive. I’m just complaining about how a 25mph impact means the car is flying through the gravel trap into the wall. I have been air born more times in the 4 days I’ve been playing this game then the 2 years I played Forza 4. I do most of my racing in Private parties with my friends, and in any other game we did not have a problem with a little door to door contact like most real racing has. But in this game it is impossible to race each other hard because the moment we touch the race is ruined.
FYI: My buddies and I raced 100% stock BTCC cars last night, and the contact was bearable in that race only, but the moment we got into any other cars, the problem arose again, cars jut flying off the track for no reason.
I dont know if it is the bigger lobbies or what but the intentional bashing it’s at the worst right now, i understand accidental bumping but when people just flat out don’t brake, that’s a problem…i wish there was some kind of in race penalty implemented, as the bashing continues it will definitely ruin the online experience…
I don’t think the majority are trolling on purpose, with 24 cars they just don’t see the braking line. I have yet to understand how having 24 cars is making things better. In singleplayer you never see the second half unless you’re lapping them. In multiplayer it destroys any possibility of clean races. Give us hoppers with 8/16 players max and everybody can have a much more enjoyable experience online. And less laggy as well. Some people were lagging out my game with ingame talk. Every time they said something my game would literally come to a halt and only continue a second later. I had to turn off voice chat with non-friends to get rid of that.
I have had my share of accidents in this game online already with vehicle to vehicle contact. I do not think it was too terrible. Again though if you are wanting clean drivers then create a private lobby, and send out invites to those who you want to race with.
In all fairness, the “deliberate” crashing isn’t that bad at the minute. Sure, someone completely misjudges their braking zones and plows into you every so often but hey, it happens in real life too.
What the OP is describing is caused by lag. I know this because i’ve cured this exact problem myself. Whilst running a wireless connection, it was horrendous. The slightest touch felt like i’d been punted at 150mph. Also, the other cars were jumping ever so slightly. No big jumps, just permanent small jumps. Since i’ve connected with a wired connection, it’s all fixed.
Yeah Im doing no contact races.Cant take the bashing. But to me its the same as always.I actually like the no collision racing.Much easier on my temper and blood pressure
Forza really needs to figure out a way to mitigate this problem.
Lapped cars should be ghosted so that they can’t just ruin races. If someone is approaching a corner at 150mph and doesn’t brake they should be ghosted. There should be a ranking system that puts an emphasis on placing you with similarly skilled players.
Triso07 has one of the best suggestions I’ve heard yet!
Although, I am looking forward to trying to establish my driving style rep in Leagues.
I think that leagues might be the only place FM6 will group “Like Temperament / Driver Style” drivers…
That is the way I read the features info on matching driver styles/skill anyway… If there is more to be known about this… please chime in, I’d love to know for sure!
And…
I hereby second Triso07’s motion… Ghost lapped cars… Ghost flagrant overdriving on entrance…
That’d be nice, the ghost feature seems sketchy at best right now. Sometimes someone afk will be ghosted immediately and won’t be an issue the rest of the race, the other times they’ll be entirely solid and just an enormous obstacle for everyone to enjoy.
I’d also like to see the ghost feature work a bit more fluidly in the event of crashes. Being that this is Forza, not everyone exercises the greatest judgment when it comes to re-entering the track at the correct time and as it is now, a good 50% of the time they remain solid throughout the entirety of the crash. Just ran a race where that exact thing happened to me, and the car in front pulled back on to the fastest section of the track (in the rain) directly into my line with 0 time to try and react. Luckily it was a BAC Mono so it bounced off essentially, but still kind of aggravating.
My concerns are elsewhere. I was watching I a video from BlackPanthaa (hang with me). I was horrified by his corner cutting. I know that the contact is always going to be an issue, but I’m worried Forza 6 will allow multiplayer races at my favorite tracks ruined with ridiculous corner cutting. Any thoughts?
