Since I’ve purchased Forza Motorsport 6, when playing online in a private lobby, ‘Damage’ is permanently set as ‘Simulation’. Even if ‘Cosmetic’ is chosen, the game still simulates damage. Sometimes if you’ve wrecked hard enough, you’ll notice HP output is decreased through telemetry view.
It’s a bummer when you’re doing online runs and your car is constantly getting slower and slower and tires are wearing out constantly to the point where you no longer catch traction.
Don’t you have to turn Sim Damage off under the Assists portion of your profile as well. From the online lobby, select your own gamer tag and confirm your personal assist settings. Don’t know why it’s done this way - think in the earlier verions of Forza the race config/ruls overrode any personal settings.
I’ve experienced what the OP is talking about to, and several of my friends.
In career mode mode i use simulation damage, hence my assists is set to that. For me and many others this is “normal”
If i play public lobbies, where simulation damage is forced off, i take no damage, wear tyres, consume fuel etc. It doesn’t matter what i have set under assists i always take no damage, wear tyres, consume fuel etc.
If i play private lobbies, where the host forces cosmetic damage, i take damage, wear tyres, consume fuel etc - yet people who dont have simulation damage set under their assists don’t. Irrespective of whether the host sets the lobby damage as “open” or “cosmetic”, the setting under assists is used.
I consider this a bug for two reasons - the behaviour is different in public vs private and second is because there is no way for a host to set or force the desired behaviour, the so-called host override is not actually overriding.
It’s rather frustrating because more often than not it’s only remembered about after the first decent knock or crash which also happens to cause enough of a disadvantage (compared to those set to cosmetic) the race is a write-off. Plus if others are like me, it’s not uncommon to go 3-4 long races without a single knock/crash in private lobbies and yet it’s only then you realize tyre wear explains the slight advantge others seemed to have during previous races… not magic
You need to turn off simulation damage in your assist while in a private lobby. The private lobby settings will force Sim damage on but won’t force it off for some reason.
