Online issues

Hey guys, having some dramas trying to find multiplayer races.
Had a bit of a readthrough the forums and keep seeing this IpSec enabled thing, Ive tried logging on to my router but I cant find anything about IPsec in the menus, just wondering if someone could help point me in the right direction.
Its a Netgear and Im in Australia with Telstra.

Anyone know how I’d go about finding it? In all my google searching I kept finding stuff about VPN forwarding, I don’t know what any of that is but it says its enabled.

Ive tried all the other solutions people have tried (Hard reboot, reboot router etc).
Ive gotten on to online races a couple times last night but for most part it just says matchmaking failed over and over. Tried many times, different races, still the same. I dont have a fantastic connection but it should easily be good enough to at least get in to a game even if it is a little laggy at times.

I saw someone mention a Protection thing n ISP settings that im currrently trying to figure out but It’s not my net account so have to wait for my step dad to get home for the ISP details.

Other than that I saw someone say something about snowowl finding a fix with some sort of online ‘switch’ or something, but couldnt find any information about it.

Anyone have any ideas? Im sure your all sick of trying to fix this crap for people so I appreciate any help.

Does anyone else hear have trouble finding games? how many times do you have to search matcmaking before you get in to a match? Ive only just recently tried out multiplayer so i dont have a benchmark to compare how bad it is.

For the record, I have no trouble with the forza servers, I get my notifications, can share and download designs and tunes and everything just fine and rivals works its only the multiplayer, it connects but when just times out when searching for matches.

Not sure ipsec is needed if Virgin is not your ISP.

I had the same issues when the xbox one first came out & i couldn’t find a solution, i ended up getting rid of it & getting a ps4, but i’m with Virgin & heard that this IPsec should fix the issue i had, my new xbox one should be here within the next week & i’m hoping it works. Have you tried port forwarding to see if that makes a difference?

2 things, are you on wired or wireless internet? Also on your Xbox one go to settings, network, and wait for the middle section to load (takes about a minute), its the place where it tells you your NAT type, once this loads it will tell you if there is any issues with your internet connecting to certain aspects of Xbox live, also can you report your NAT type back to me?

One quick thing, if you’re on wireless have you tried changing your wireless channel to reduce interference?

The setting for Virgin UK broadband customers is called IPSec Passthrough. It may or may not work for some other people regardless of provider. But it’s known to work with Virgin because of the way they have their network set up.
The setting usually is for people who want to run Virtual Private Networking through their router, Which Virgin doesn’t specifically support, but it works fine once you enable IPSec passthrough.
Another option which you can try (At your own risk, although it’s minimal), is to put your Xbox on a DMZ. Just search for ‘set up DMZ (your router manufacturer) router’ on Google and you should find the info you need. This puts your Xbox on a connection to the net without having to go through the routers firewall. Which can cause issues such as the ones you’re having. I had to do this for Forza 4, but once i did all problems disappeared.
