A real design work, a real vision of design/art
I definitely think some of the GT livery creators will give it ago on FH5. I’m not sure how similar the FH5 livery creator interface is to GT though.
I have decided after this week to go back to creating replicas or using irl racing liveries as inspiration.
There is a fine line between using someones design as inspiration and copying, and I don’t want to risk crossing that line
My opinion on this might not be the most popular, but I’m ok with copying other people’s designs.
I tend to put my original work on one car (or maybe two) so if someone wants to copy one of my originals and put it on a different car, I don’t have a problem with it. I’ve seen quite a few of my designs show up on other cars across the Forza-verse. I’m generally ok with that even if they want to make it public. They’re welcome to do that in my book as long as they’re not submitting those designs in these contests or, like, rigging the game by timing the release of one of my original paints on a new car to get downloads on it.
When I first started painting many years ago I copied a few designs from the most well-known community painters (FLG, Duff, StuziB, etc) and changed the colors or copied their original paints onto different cars because I wanted that look on a different car, so I understand where the desire to copy comes from.
But as I said, where I draw the line is copying a Forza painter’s design and submitting in these contests. I would also draw the line with copying a Forza painter’s design on the exact same car in Forza and then making it public. Like, why would you do that? If you love the design that much, just use the original designer’s work, it’s already there to be used!
But copying a GT painter’s work or any IRL painter’s work is fair game in my book (in fact, saying you’re only going to do replicas just means you’re copying some IRL painter’s design anyway, even if we don’t know who they are SOMEONE came up with those iconic paint jobs we all know and love).
So as long as you give credit to the original designer and don’t try to pass it off as original (which you didn’t do, by the way), that’s ok by me. A nice extra step would be to shoot a note to the original designer and let them know you brought their design into Forza (a lot of the IRL and GT painters can be found on Instagram or other social media and it’s not uncommon at all for the game painters across both Forza and GT to share in-game work with the original IRL designers).
I think my last thought on this is how much harder it is to make original designs. Personally I tend to stop, start, re-start, move things around, delete the whole thing and start over to a level that can drain me (I might have more half-finished paints than I do actual shared paints). So whenever I need a break but I don’t want to stop painting, I’ll do a replica or a copy to pass the time.
Anyway, that’s my soapbox. I’ll get off it now.
not to be that guy, but that’s a rocket bunny kit

Congratulations to the winners of Week 156! Please DM me with your prize car choice and confirm whether or not you’d like to see your work featured on our channels such as Twitter.com/ForzaHorizon and Forza. We’ll also highlight winners in a future video. These designs will be featured in game through the third Friday in September.
Players can download these to use on your own car by heading to a Home or Festival Site Garage > Designs menu, then select Find New Designs, then search using the share code. On the search results screen you can choose to Favorite Design and also select Creator Info to see their Creative Hub and give the artist a follow.
