Not sure what is going on but I am not getting any messages on my menu screen, its just an exclamation mark?
Also when I go into free play I can only select from six manufacturers and then only a few cars? I own 200 cars in main game

similar problem to me… since days I experience unstable server connection (I think only with FM7, because e.g. FM6 works normally).
I do not receive messages (e.g. the daily reward), I cannot access most of the time the “Rivals”, the “Special Dealer” this week did not open ever, no player car market… and so on.
At the present I almost cannot play

Re Freeplay, change you car type/division in the race setup menu

The only way I can choose cars is to go to main home screen and go to my garage to select a car then go back into free play. When I try to choose a car in free play there are only about 20 available but in my garage I have over 200. It’s just very annoying having to come out of free play to choose a car!
Again, go to the race setup menu, scroll all the way down, scroll the option left, all the way to ANY.

For my part after cleaning the cache, that works pretty good, really faster than before. 
Sometimes when I play Rivals etc then go to Free Play, the game seems to remember settings for the previous event and I need to go back to the main menu to get the right options.
In Free Play/Race Setup there are 3 menus. The initial one and 2 other tabs for advanced settings. To be able to choose all cars in the garage, the Division on the initial menu needs to be set to ANY and the other 2 menus should be examined to ensure that they don’t have any car restrictions.
Regarding the Message Center. It looks like the Forzathon being offline problem etc has now been fixed but until today there was nothing in my Message Center so I couldn’t download my weekly rewards or the F50 and there was no link to new outstanding rivals.
Tried the usual method of going offline, waiting, then going online yesterday but my Message Center still refused to work.
However today I tried the procedure again slightly differently as below and it all worked fine. Got my weekly rewards, the F50 and a link to Rivals. Amazing.
“From the main menu of FM7 press the XBOX button, go into settings, network, go offline, wait 10 seconds then go back online, click the FM7 icon and press B a few times to go back to FM7 main menu.”
