I just wanted to get this over with as soon as possible and never go back to the Test Track again.
I guess that the current ForzaTech engine does not allow to change upgrades in free roam. Turn 10 never thought of that and this restriction is deeply engrained in the engine… It only works in a player house and now in a special event. What other reason does PGG have not to do the obvious? That thought never crossed their mind? Or does it go against their “game philosophy” to give us access in free roam?
I hope they will prove me wrong…
If you have a saved or download a tune, you can change parts and setup anywhere in free roam.
I’ll still use horizon outpost near my initial testing track and do normal races to see how it handles track and drivatars.
- its not possible to save, load my tunes or reset to default tune
- its not possible to measure lap times, jump distances etc
- teleport is not implemented
- there is no back button in the car select menu
- the tune menu should have a oneclick option to - I tune more often than changing parts
the test track is a good idea but it lacks functionality
Since it’s at horizon festival site and it only adds a laggy menu and some signs i would say i tryed it once and i wont try it again, bec i don’t see the point over just upgrading your car at pretty much the same place without the lag in menus. Just another pointless addition that no1 will use.

Based on how this is implemented. Its clear they can just have the car paused in state in freeroam to upgrade, if a bit laggy.
But why have it as this weird non functional event instead of adding to the menu.
We used to not be able to change cars or tune from the options. That seems like the natural evolution, And then they can get rid of the festival sites altogether.
Its one thing if this WAS an actual test track. But its not its an empty free roam with some props. A better one could be made in eventlabs, and all it would be missing is the upgrade feature.
A test track that really does nothing. And badges. What the heeheehee are badges worth? I don’t want no stinkin badges! I’m not sure if PGG people even own cars.
Just being implemented as a sort of ‘hey, you can access this special event that we used for this one partnership series’ I think is fine. Its just they kind of billed it as a utility and extension of the upgrade system, and its just not. At best I can see this just sort of being used as a means to RP that sort of series with a convoy.
Test Track First Impressions.
No real track, just a collection of corners stitched together by arrows indicating Road, Dirt and Off-Road sections. No timed sectors, no timing for completion of a lap. So basically useless. As I stated earlier…it’s a first impression. I could be wrong.
Disappointing.

I have tried it out and enjoy the free roam idea but still cannot get to grips with why we need it and what it actually achieves! Am I missing something with it?
Sums up the pointless direction of the game and the studio.
Although I am informed that the topic has been solved, I am responding to the Heading implying the test track being the feature to discuss - not one aspect of it, as mentioned in the OP.
This would have been a great addition when FH5 was launched, allowing us to test upgrades on a try before you buy basis when money would have been scarce. When I make any changes to any car now, I do not look at the cost, so there is no point to it.
This is by far the worst item of this new and absolutely amazing update. The Horizon Racing Pack is great with a reasonable price, the cars of the festival are great. But this Test Track thing ?? Goosh… it’s awful… The Devs must put a real Test Track with time sectors, counting lap times, etc… this is a big fail.
Good point. More of a Test Drive than a Test Track. I suppose the idea still has some utility for new players who don’t have the money. Probably a Test Idea for FH6 ? If it comes at the start of that then it might be useful there. Not that it’s changed my mind, this is still my last FH game, we’ve taken different roads.
Seems quite a good feature if it actually had a timer when you crossed the start line. What are they expecting people to do - have a friend with a handheld stopwatch to time them?
I spent couple of hours in the Test Track. It’s a good addition that needs some improvements:
- Cornering speed tracking.
- Lunch, acceleration, and breaking tracking.
- Speed up the upgrades menu.
- Ability to switch vehicles.
Tracking should be available for three kind of surfaces, asphalt, dirt road, and off-road.

Wow….nice. I’ll chip away as I’ll be using this feature outside of rivals for testing/building cars.
