New Racer, couple questions...

My friends and I race online, in a private lobby, almost every night. We started in the D class, and have moved up a class, every week or so. We run us three, plus 15 drivatars, on ‘unbeatable’. We also start in reverse order, so we have to work through the field.

I ran the Boss Mustang, in D. I did pretty well, but the rear end would let go on me, exiting corners, and I’d drift down straights a lot. Won a few, lost a few.

Then we moved to C class, and I got the '05 Subaru WXR. I found a great tune, and could not be touched by my friends. I mean, I LOVE that car. Boy it is fun to drive.

In B, I tried all kinds of cars. Vette, Camaro, Lotus, Audi’s, Viper, and Mustang. Just couldn’t get the kind of feel, I had in my Subaru. The most success I had was upgrading the Subaru to B, and racing that. Only a few tracks I couldn’t compete, because of long straights, against my buddies Lambo Countach, and the Buick that has the V6 and looks like an old school NASCAR. But, if the track had a fair amount of corners, or was shorter, I would hold my little Subaru wide open in corners, and laugh as I passed on the inside. Or wide open on the outside too, if need be. Such a great car.

Last few days, we moved to A class. I started with the free Indy looking race car. Great in corners, but not enough grunt, on the straights. I moved to a Ferrari F50, and it had a little better speed, but I can’t touch my friends Lexis (L4 or something like that?). I thought the Ferrari would haul ass, but even if I upgrade it for full top speed (which just killed any kind of cornering), I still can’t touch his car. For example, he would hit the end of a straight at 182mph, and I could only do 161mph. The longer the straight, the larger the gap. So, this brings me to a few questions I have…

  1. What is an A class car I can outfit for corners, and still have some grunt? I’ll run different tunes, for different races, if need be. But as we get into faster cars, the gap between my cornering and their top speed is opening up, and they are now leaving me. I’m looking for a car I can tune to run multiple styles, I guess. I only have about 600k after I bought the F50, so it will be a bit before I can have a few cars in this class. I’m not looking for the fastest car, as I still have to be able to corner, too.

  2. I’ve noticed I can have a car with a higher ‘speed’ number, but in an actual race, my MPH is lower in straights, top end. So, what controls the actual top end speed? HP?

  3. In regards to the private lobby, there are few things I’d like, I can’t figure out how to do. I’d like to run an A class field with us in it, against half the field running D class, so we have to pass slower traffic on later laps. I’ve tried everything I can to do this, but thus far, no luck. Can anyone give me a guide to do this? With multi-class, it doesn’t seem to be working correctly.

  4. Also, I can’t make it rotate maps, in the private lobby. I have to rotate the map manually, after each race. Is there a way I can get it to rotate for me? And once, in a random online race, there was a voting system after the race, for the next lap. How can I do that in the private lobby?

Well, that’s about it. Having tons of fun, I hope you all can help me work these things out. Thank you, for any help and advice you might have to offer.

First off the f50 is a beast and if you do it right it wont be beat. Its all down to your driving ability. From your explained progress, your struggling with throttle control with the higher hp cars, usually rwd. You will get better with time. Be patient and enjoy the ride.

The subarus a mighty lobby car, easy to drive with excellent launch and takes some beating. The next step is something a little quicker and harder to drive. Let me recommend i 1ee i skyline r34. A class. Just try it out and see what you think.

Regarding topspeed, its determained by several factors usually by engine size and starting top speed before upgrade but aero can kill this. The stats are
quite vaque and just a basic guideline. As in real life things written on paper are not quite fact. Otherwise my overated football team would’nt be in the bottom half of the league with all our expensive players.

Hope this info helps

I would suggest you race in some public lobbies. Pay attention to the clean racers. You would be surprised at how good racers can make average cars perform. You will learn a lot in a public lobby. Let everyone know you are new to public lobbies and ask for help. You should get some valuable coaching from the serious racers. The crashers and youngsters will be an annoyance. Maybe you could befriend a few of the good clean racers and invite them to race in your private lobby.

HLR Toffo,

I picked up your recommendation, and it is amazing. Superb handling, and although it takes a bit, she just keeps climbing on the top end speed. In my most recent race session, we did Le Mans Sarthe. I was in the R34, and my two friends were in a Lambo Diablo, and the Lexus LFA.

I could really put the hammer down on the corners, but what really helped was the fact that they both hit 190+ on the straight, and I was able to stay close by hitting about 175. My previous car and build would peak out at 147. In the end, it turned out to be a great series, as we are all very close in our times, depending on the track. Simply amazing car. Its super fun to see the three of us enjoying a different style of car and driving, but all being so close.

Might you have more suggestions in the S, R, P, and X classes? We will eventually get there.

And thank you, again.

The Spidie,

Yeah, I’ve jumped into a couple of public lobbies. I explain I’m basically new, and every time, the others are forgiving. I try to communicate often about where I am, such as when I’m sticking my nose on the inside of a corner, or drafting past on a certain side. If your talk to people, and are polite, the others are almost always great. And, of course, you get some ‘less than polite’ people too, from time to time. Not sure what they get out of playing like that, but to each their own.

Does anyone have an suggestions for how I can set the private lobby to rotate maps?

Also, still trying to find a way to set the front half of the drivatar field as a higher class, and the back half of the field as a lower class, so we can battle through slower traffic on later laps?

Thank you all!

Its not all about topend speed just how quickly you arrive at it, then how you take the corner. Anyone can drive fast in a straight line. Try scotty2hotty f50 a class and pe arcimedes s class viper. I may have spelt them wrong but if you search hard enough you will find them.

Regarding the private lobby map rotation, its not possible. Its down to you to change it. I think you can make a multiclass though. It set up with the option that says buckets. Lol. Just play with it you will figure it out eventually.

Good job beating your friends at le mans with a car noway built for it.
