New Leagues: IndyCar | C500 Ghosts (Classic Compact) | Lambo S2W3 | Porsche Cycled

I’ve had no problems getting into an IndyCar lobby. I’ve had problems with other drivers thinking they can go from the back of the grid to the front on the first corner of the first lap, on cold tires. When someone hasn’t tried to be a “heroe” (try to overtake from 500ft+ or 150m+ behind) I’ve been on the podium and even won two races. Also Lime Rock seems to pop up every third race.

Indy Cars at Lime Rock? Sounds like hell.

Oh, you have no idea! lol.

But seriously though, Lime Rock with the Indy Cars is fun, when you don’t have wreckers or the heroes. If you can get the right people in a lobby, it is very fun. But what I’ve noticed in the League so far, only done a few sessions for about an hour each, is that a lot, any a lot I mean 75-80% (may be a bit high) of the people racing don’t know how to brake right in the Indy Car, at Lime Rock anyway, and some other track too, but very noticeable at Lime Rock (all versions). Those people I talk of, brake like they’re driving a '97 Honda Civic or a Rolls-Royce Wraith, meaning, way too early. I don’t know how many people I’ve accidentally bumped because they were on the brakes too early, and I didn’t anticipate it quick enough. But that’s usually in the first lap, as I tend to back off from them if I know they are an early braker.

I tend to brake a tad early in any car at any track, but that’s my driving style. A little slower in, means faster out, usually. Ok, not in the Hurican ST, because that car is… Junk… to me. But running the Indy Car at Lime Rock, trying to keep up with the faster guys, taught me more about braking in the Indy Car than any rivals event could possibly teach me. And I don’t know my, as rivals is safer, but maybe it’s that deal where if you brake too late, you hit the guy in front of you, so it makes you have a more precise braking point and/or line with racing someone who can cause you issues. If that makes sense. I think it does to me, but I’m not sure now. lol

For the most part, the Indy Car league is fun. There are tracks I don’t like, so I spectate those, just so I don’t wreck myself and then others. But I tend to fall to the back (if possible without wrecking anyone else) before turn 1, so I can pick my way through the carnage. If I don’t think I can make it through without hitting someone, as long as no one is behind me at that point, I’ll stop at let everyone gather the cars up and get back going. Then I’ll start methodically chasing them down and try to pass them clean. Not very easy on some tracks, easier at some.

As for the Ghost League, it’s being over run with people using the Mazda Cosmo, Alfa Romeo GTA, or the occasional Volvo 123GT that has crap handling numbers and high acceleration, that just leave you in the dust. I had a race where one guy insisted on using the Volvo for 5 races in a row. I was using all different sorts of cars trying to beat him, but couldn’t. I even tried the setup he had as it was downloaded. That setup was so horribly tight (understeers worse than a dump truck), I couldn’t think on how he got through very tight hairpins (Long Beach, Spa) so fast. Only thing I can think is that he was either using sim steering, a wheel, or both. But even then, it still didn’t turn for anything for me when I tried my wheel and sim steering. But maybe it’s because I don’t rap the throttle through the entire corner either. Meaning, on and off the gas just so you don’t spin out, or if you’re using traction control, which it seems like 60% online do. But that’s a rant I’ll save for a different thread.

Porsche League, I haven’t tried it this time. I haven’t tried any of them since the first one with the LMP cars, and boy was that a mess. I stuck around for 2 or 3 races, and went back to the Ghost league that was running that week.

What classic compact has a ton fast cars. The Cosmo is the best handling cars. BUT there is a ton of great mid-long tracks power cars. If you can’t find alternative in this league, it’s on you.
Most people are followers, monkey see, monkey do. If somebody win, people all thinks it’s because of the car, and will copy them.

Really enjoying the C class classic compact ghost league right now. There are so many competitive cars I thought I"d go for something else to challenge them I chose the Datsun 510 and have a decent tune on it, but do need to get some top end in it - it grips all day long, so I’m fine with that.

What car have you chose?

Even the slow cars in this are good. This is builders dream for league.
