Who’s your favorite driver? Who will be the Cup Champion for 2014? Are you going to any races this year? I’m picking Dale Jr. this year to win the Cup! What do you think of the new “Chase Format?”
Favorite driver is Big Daddy himself, Jeff Gordon! I think the last couple of years have been very unkind to him, but this year, the whole team will break out of the bad luck and be a major contender for the title. And while I’d love to see him win his 5th, it’s going to be tough with Harvick at Stewart Haas this year and I’m honestly looking at Austin Dillon to make a run for the Chase in his rookie year, especially if they do extend the Chase field to 16. It’s going to be a very exciting year. Go Gordon! Get your 5th!

I’m a big Dale Jr. fan. So as always I’m hoping for him, but I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if Jimmy Johnson got the cup again. He is just fantastic, so I wouldn’t mind him winning again. I might go the Martinsville or Richmond. Granted, last time I was headin to Martinsville, was when I wrecked my truck, so might not feel that. But other than that that’s what I’m thinkin.
As for the new Chase format, I gotta tell you, if they were looking to simplify things, they did just the total opposite for understanding it all. Once you really look and learn how it’s going to work, it is pretty simple; win and you’re in essentially.
It appears that the more things change the more they remain the same. If you win, “You’re In.”
Exactly. And then once in the Chase, it seems as though they are promoting winning, but at the same time, if someone in the Chase wins that first Chase race, they can basically ride around for the next two races until the second tier of the Chase. It’s really weird.
It’ll be fun to watch honestly in my opinion. It’ll hopefully bring back that old style of flat out racing instead of points racing. As much as a fan of HMS that I am, I think we’ve seen the end of Jimmie Johnson. He’ll still get a seventh cup, but I doubt it’ll be any time soon.

I so very much hate these playoff systems in motorsports. It just makes no sense to me. In football or baseball, when the playoffs start, the teams that didn’t make it don’t play. Yet, in NASCAR and NHRA the drivers that don’t make it, still get to race. So a championship contender can be taken out by someone with nothing to lose. All in the name of creating drama and making the championship come down to the last race of the year. So what if the championship is sewed up with 3 or 4 races to go, if you earn it, you get it.
Anyways, rant aside, I joined your fantasy NASCAR group RB7. I’ve never done fantasy racing before, but I think it might be fun. Especially with the unpredictable nature of racing. The closest I ever came was last year I went to my first NASCAR race and correctly picked Jimmie Johnson to win so I’m feeling pretty confident! haha.

ok still I think the new rules are interesting I mean you can like get suspended for some races
I am a Jeff Burton fan but since he is basically retired I will now be rooting for my fellow Connecticut native Joey Logano. I think Jimmie Johnson will once again do just enough to win the championship. No one adapts to changes better than him and his team.
I will probably go to the summer Nationwide race and the fall Cup race in New Hampshire. Not sure about the new points system- we need a year or two to see if it really makes the season more exciting.
Even though I’m a huge #24 fan and hope he’ll go for his fifth, I wouldn’t mind it if another Hendricks driver won. Maybe it’s time for Dale Jr to win it all!
It’ll be interesting to see how/if the changes this season will affect how the racing is done on the tracks.
