My venture into multiplayer

So, despite my previous comment about not going back to multiplayer until 2016 (you guys REALLY need to stop taking me so seriously), I decided to give it another go. Result? Mixed. Some fun racing, a lot of getting punted to the curb. A couple of thoughts:

  1. I’m assuming that weak connections cause the “flying car” phenomenon. If so, I’m probably flying to a lot of people. That may account for some of the punting I got. But, only some of it.

  2. Despite my fear of being conditioned by career mode to be too aggressive, it hasn’t been a problem for me. It’s usually me that is getting punted first turn.

  3. The van - OK, I understand Turn 10 was trying for a bit of fun and I’m sure you can get the van up to good speed with a good tune. That being said, its presence makes a race unbearable. Especially since one dude decided to use it at Bathurst. If you are just going to use it to be an artery clogger, then, you are being a jerk (nevermind he also punted me once on one that could not have been an accident). That was the only time in all of my racing I punted somebody and I really wasn’t doing it out of revenge - I caught up after his punting and then tried to pass and he moved to block. Seriously, if I see somebody with the van, I’ll just sit out the race unless maybe at a place like Prague or Alps. Bathurst, seriously?

  4. Best race was one where I was with five guys at Indy Oval. Just a good, competitive, clean race. I finished third out of five and was happy as heck. That was the race that showed me the potential multiplayer has for a good time.

So, I’ll be around the D Class lobby periodically. As for my Jetsons car, I’ll probably buy a network amplifier and see if that helps the signal.

Cool man, give ABCs a shot some time. It’s usually pretty clean and a lot of fun.

Absolutely agree. What a blast this game mode is and only once have I had someone in the same class as me (S) wait just before the finish line on the last lap to take me out, which he failed at horribly, since I saw it coming from a mile away.

The van runs pretty good at bathurst(c class),the alps on the hand…

Only did the multiplayer thing once, and actually got the finish 1st with a gap of less than a second, or whatever it was achiveo. First and last time doing multiplayer LOL. end it on a high note xD

I was in the lobby with you… I said Hi, but you snubbed me :frowning: I figured you just didn’t hear me due to connection issues.

I didn’t see you much actually as I got mostly front start positions, but I sure heard when you were getting run into. IIRC, you had a rough go of it on Spa and called it quits.

The van is actually kind of cool if you know how to drive it. That guy on Bathurst clearly didn’t… I don’t mind them too much if I can get around them. I couldn’t get around the guy on Bathurst as I started in the rear on that one and couldn’t get around all the carnage he was creating, he took me out several times in that race. Once you’re passed them, you don’t have to deal with them again unless there is a pretty good driver behind the wheel, because most drivers aren’t catching you in that thing. I have seen a few run some impressive laps in that thing though. I’ve only managed a few competitive races with it, but no wins yet.

Just my experience in D class lobbies, but you need to get away from the rear of the pack asap. There are almost always some really bad drivers back there. If you get caught up with them, it can be a long race with them constantly banging into you. Its usually not intentional, they are just driving muscle cars that have zero grip and can’t control them. Most of the time, the top 3 or 4 racers in the lobbies aren’t bad at all and will race clean. Again, that’s just my experiences lately, others may differ…

I saw you too, Lou. Not my intention to snub, sorry. I think a lot of it is connection issues on my end. Most of the chatter I was hearing was a garbled mess. Also, you are significantly better than me so I expect you to be well ahead.

Yeah, I can be pretty vocal when getting rammed. I don’t specifically remember that race at Spa but chances are if I quit midway, it was after getting rammed multiple times. Again, I’ll chalk up some of the hits if my car is in Jetsons mode due to bad connection. But, that freaking van – dude blasted me at ramming speed as I was slowing for the turn after the straight at Bathurst. That wasn’t an accident. And, he obviously wasn’t that skilled if I caught back up to him on the mountain.
