Ever since the first Forza Motorsport game, applying splitters, canards and diffusers was always tied to a bumper upgrade option. It has remained this way in the Xbox Series generation games too, and even in the 2023 Forza Motorsport, which supposedly has got a new Forzatech game engine, the upgrade system works the same way and so does car customization - you cannot apply a Forza splitter onto any other bumper. I think it’s time to change this
Need For Speed changed its body customization around NFS 2015, and since then bumpers, grilles, splitters, canards and even lights have been separate modifiable options. Why shouldn’t Forza be inspired by that too? It could allow for much more enhanced body customization, and more options for tuning if it was the splitter that was responsible for front aero adjustment. Players would finally be able to equip any full bodykit and still use adjustable aero (provided rear aero allows for it too). It’s similar with rear bumpers, where a diffuser would be a net improvement over stock performance and it wouldn’t portrude with any custom rear bumper. This would also allow for more styles of all of these options, so we could have multiple types of splitters and canards.
Additional body customization could be added the same way, like exhaust tips, lights or mirrors. Widebodies should become unrestricted too, for the same reasons.
