Loose Tires and Junk

Does anybody know if hitting any junk (signs, spoilers, tires, etc.) on the track does anything to your car control? It doesn’t seem to do anything but make a noise.

I plowed into a pile of tires on the track and it made the bumping noise and they flew all over the place. Avoiding them was impossible.

I’m just curious.

Some of the signs can cause damage if you hit them just right (wrong?). As far as I can tell, the tires just make a noise.
