Looking to host Spec Miata races for weekends

I just posted this a little bit ago but in a different category. I’m new to posting on this forum so I will try to be as clear as possible.

I’m trying to start hosting a weekend Spec Miata event for those who are interested. To keep it semi-realistic, I’m trying to comply with the NASA Spec Miata regulations as much as possible, and I’ve already figured out setups for the NA, NB, and NC Miata. This would be a weekend event taking place every Saturday evening. Each race will be 20 laps each on all of the non DLC American tracks. I want to have at least 12 people per race, I’d like to have 20. If anyone cares at all, take a look at the NASA regulations. https://nasa-assets.s3.amazonaws.com/document/document/201/NASA_SM_FINAL_2014v1.pdf

NB’s and NC’s will not have the options for engine upgrades due to the hp differences. After the allowed bolt ons, the NA will have 153hp, and both of the other models have 158. Unfortunately there are a few quirks here and there that don’t happen in Spec Miata but it’s as close as we can go for realism. Also, I really wish there was a hard top option for the NB on Forza since that’s a requirement for SM. To be a little more realistic, I’m complying with the rules of Mazda logos being on the cars. For Spec Miata, the Mazda logo has to be on both rear quarter panels of the car, and the Mazdaspeed logo has to be on the hood towards the furthest position forwards. It took me 5 minutes to do mine in the decal booth, using a tiny bit of geometry that is provided so that it matches up.

My best time at Road Atlanta in the NA was a 1.40 on the game which in reality would probably be the fastest time ever recorded at Road Atlanta in a Spec Miata. Most of us are in the later 1.40’s at that track. With the NC and NB, the times are almost identical. I think it has to do with the weight differences. The NB probably has the advantage but I think it’s close enough to where it’s driver vs driver because people will make mistakes or use better techniques.

PLEASE feel free to throw out any tips or advice, or even ideas for this. I really want it to happen and I want it to be fun and competitive. I’ve seen and heard of some Spec Miata events for Forza but not being an on-going thing. I’ve never really hosted any events so any help with that would also be appreciated.

Are you going to be providing the tunes for the specified cars? Doing that will insure that everyone is running the same car for each specified race.

Definitely! I got on there last night and tried to set up a pretty detailed lobby. I will get on here later on and post all of the specs for each car and that will give you what you need to see for yourself just how close they are when it comes to lap times. I did all my testing at Road Atlanta. I’ve spent more time on the track with the NA than the NB and NC, so my time was about half a second faster but I did about 10 laps with the other cars and both were literally at 1.41 with me pushing it as hard as I could and keeping it on the track. I’ve found some guys on
Miata.net that are also trying to get a full season going so I’m also going to follow up on that. I learned last night that you can’t have more than 16 players to a race and trying to bring in the AI’s with these specs are impossible. Still, that should be enough.

Would this be on US time or UK?

I’m not familiar with that series in real life, but if the classes need to be separated more in terms of pace, try different tire compounds.
