Hi there TM. I use sim steering in every car and every class and run no assists. I am interested to know who runs sim steering? I have tried quite a few tunes from the TM and won’t name them as I don’t want to get into a flame war. Most of them I can’t drive and I cannot drive with normal steering either so end up tuning cars myself or running friends cars who also use sim steering. I would appreciate it if anyone can direct me to tuners that tune using sim steering. Thanks in advance.
I run no assists, but if you’re having that much trouble with it either keep practicing gentle inputs on countersteer or switch to normal to compensate. Every car is going to sim-twitch it just comes down to controlling the throttle so you don’t get in that situation and if you do, being able to catch it safely.
I think you misread my post. I can drive my own cars fine and friends cars that use sim steering. I don’t have issues with thottle control. I just want to know who uses sim steering and what tunes do they have. Do you use sim steering?
I race and tune with sim steering and TCS OFF. I’d welcome any feedback you’d have on my cars but I think you will find most of my tunes too heavy on grip and lacking in top end but I seem to gain more in the corners than I loose in straits with the extra grip.
Normal steering and I don’t get along and I find that I fight to take out inputs that I didn’t want. I have been struggling with the controller since day one. I also run very little dead band (I forget what the game calls it… DeadZone?) and shove the stick forward to kill the centering effect of the springs. Some day I am going to take an extra controller and cut the springs to reduce the preload. Hell I might even look for stiffer & shorter ones for a higher force gradient without the high breakout force. Then I could run 2-4% dead band and getting the stick moving wouldn’t instantly moving it 50% of the travel. Until then I just keep learning how to compensate.
I don’t adjust any of the dead zones for the pad. I would be interested in running some of your cars. Either post what you have in the thread or PM me.
The better ones are:
D400 F-100
C500 C1 Corvette
C500 77 Trans Am
C500 Bel Air (survives getting tagged with sim steering)
B600 77 Trans Am GSW Budget COMP (this may predate my shift to sim steering)
A700 Shelby Daytona AWD GSW Budget COMP
A700 F50 for Indy Oval (The tune/track that convinced me to go full time sim steering)
Shared but not posted is also an 04 WSX STI from the PTG 15 mile rally but this is an odd mid A class as a result of the rules.
If and when you get around to lapping a few please reply. Especially with any negative feadback.
