Livery Design Editor overhaul or use of external tools

Hello everyone!
I just spent two days working on my livery and it’s only half decent.
And I don’t want to spend 2-3 days just working on one livery, I want to play the game, I want to race with my liveries on.
The tools that we have are ages old.
Gran Turismo allows at least to upload .png files through their web site; iRacing allows to download Photoshop templates (.psd) for every car and you can work on every part of the car separately and they also have Trading Paints - third party app where you can upload/download liveries for any car in the game; for ACC you can even load car model in 3D editor and work on the livery there.
And all these games doing great, so “bad actors” aspect is not an argument. We can still report liveries and players.

Come on Turn10 it’s 2023 we deserve better!
Thank you!

Even something like adding a freeform shape function would be great. Window decals and being able to have additional decal color options (eg. matte, metallic, chrome) would be a big plus as well.

This would be an amazing addition. Im pretty new to the decal editor but i’ve had plenty of experience with the one from GT Sport. Being able to add your own images or like you say being able to use an external editor would be really smart.

Yes, at least being able to upload images would be nice or like dud3id0ntkn0w said freeform shape tool would make a huge difference.
It’s just even the simple stuff can take hours to make

Mapping on most cars is entirely broken, with layers appearing where they shouldn’t or vice versa. It shouldn’t stretch liveries on a car but rather apply them directly, I think the Livery Creator in GT Sport and 7 works that way.

It’s been exactly the same since 2005 maybe we could Discuss & share our Ideas in more Detail With T10 example is videos & screenshots of your own systems in Livery & UI like a Livery Sharing System as an example of my own Idea & it would be called Community Creations were people share there own shaps styles ect & we can apply it on our cars & share it like GT7 & to upload our created design there will be an option like the others as you select.

A basic cubic or quadratic path editor is sorely missing. It takes far too much work to build specific shapes from the basic weird built-in shapes.

Livery design uses the same tools logos and figures since FM3

The old MSN Autos (that doesnt even exists anymore) is still there

Listen, we know your developers are swamped with work for the racing. The decals booth is frankly lame. I’ve worked as a developer doing hardcore 2D/3D programming for the first version of 3DS Max. Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator plugins. I know there is better middle ground between what you force us to do in-game versus using other apps.

Let your developers focus on the game core, let us import graphics using whatever tool we want into the game.

Does Microsoft force us to draw images in Word or Excel or PowerPoint or can we import images? Think about it

The game could potentially run faster too! Think of all the processing power and space used by all the individual decals to do a design that should have been ONE decal created with a polygon.

although it LOOKS like we are painting directly onto the car, what is actually happening is we are applying layers to the 2D template that makes up the various parts of the car (look at vehicle templates for games like Euro Truck Simulator 2 or American Truck Simulator). This is why skinning in this game is such a pain.

I made a few liverys since FM launched and I must say that an overhaul of the livery editor is really necessary since it’s often very challenging to work with right now. I support the suggestion of other people in this thread that an external tool would be super nice to have
