I’ll be honest, I used to think that. There are some high levels who are really good (watching replays) but there are some who race like they’ve never played a race sim in their life. I’ve only learnt that over the last few days as I’ve only just started getting stuck into public lobbies and leagues.
Many of the raeally high level gamers are achievement gatherers, and simply increase their driver level to gain notoriety, as well as the bonus multimillion credits spins at the turn of each hundred levels. (10, 20, 30, 40 mil as you go up into each hundred levels)
They often can’t drive worth anything, and often dont care at all about the other drivers in the field, they are after the rewards, at all costs.x
It’s a shame we don’t have a Drivers Level cap, like in Forza 3, which was 50 if I remember rightly?
You could keep earning Driver Level points, but it didn’t matter, 'cause it never changed.
Not saying we should cap it at 50, but there does need yo be a ceiling, otherwise it just promotes poor sportsmanship etc"
I totally agree with all the above findings, as I have had it happen to me regularly, what I would ask of all this, is what perverse pleasure do these get out of deliberately wrecking other peoples enjoyment? Let’s face they all know who they are, but it would probably be true to say that they are not the readers & contributor’s on these forum’s subjects! Perhaps they can’t read?
The amount of ppl that play forza vs the amount of ppl that come to the forums, is hugely different. Most of us, here in the forums, are here because we have slightly more then a interest in the game. Think about how many ppl just bought the game cause they had nothing better to buy that day, then play it for a couple hours a week, and don’t really care about the game. I’d say there are more ppl out there like that, then ppl that are actually INTO the game. So talking about crashers, and track cutters on the forums… is almost pointless. One thing I’ve noticed about crashers, we can’t yell at then anymore! The chat system in forza, IS A COMPLETE FAIL!! So if someone “accidentally” bumps you through a corner. They can’t tell you that it was an accident and apologize. Instead, now you automatically assume there a $^//#£(× and are mad for the rest of the race. I am a clean racer, i find much more excitment in bumper to bumper racing, working to find a clean spot to pass, keeping up long enough to make the clean pass, that’s exciting! These problems didn’t exist in fm4. Cause chat WORKED! If there was someone deliberately wrecking ppl, we could all talk about it, and that person would probably get voted out of the room!! Problem solved! And that’s an other thing! In fm4, if someone voted to kick someone from the lobby, the vote was public! Like a track vote! Everyone knew that some one was being voted out! Now, votes are not public. If I vote to kick someone, no one else knows to vote, so, there’s only one person voting. And with chat not working, we can’t even talk about kicking someone from the room. That’s why we are seeing so many ppl not being voted out. If those 2 things worked properly, lobbies would be much nicer.
I’m use a wheel and run full sim steering and believe me. Ramming people is the last thing any wheel user would try and do. It is rediculously difficult trying to recover from a collision with the amount of counter steer involved. I’d be very surprised if many of the griefers were wheel users.
What frustrates me is whenever there’s an accident at the start of the race I will slow right down to navigate through the chaos only to be rear ended by some impatient player who thinks he’s the Stig and totals the car. This has happened to me so many times during the sim leagues. Having to turn around on the start line and go back on yourself to the pits is not cool.
Throw away your first race in a session, hang back and try to just set a fast lap to start higher up the grid. If you’re starting in the first few positions and can get round turn one cleanly, most of the time you can leave the carnage way behind and have a good race up front.
Trust me, tried that tactic, you still get clipped before the first corner. I don’t know why but wheel users are severely punished when it comes to online. No matter what contact I have I always end up careering off the track. One incident I locked up my front brakes before going into a turn I accidentally bumped the car in front and I still end up spinning out. The slightest touch and I crash out.
I had enough so tried it on the controller and it feels like I am in a tank compared to using a wheel. But using a pad just felt weird and plus I have invested quite enough on my set up so will continue using my wheel and try to get by the best I can. I am really enjoying all these new cummunity events.
That’s when you grit your teeth and hope for the best. Should you come out the other side backwards in a broken car just try keep your calm and concentrate on your lap times this race, rather than your finishing position.
I don’t think a Driver Level cap would change anything. It’s the character of the driver at least. As i mentioned before,i’m around 680 and i gained maybe 50 levels online.
Very true mate. Some drivers (cough cough) seem to think the track belongs to them, and them alone. Sadly, they are the ones that seem to ‘own’ the online experience in Forza…
I’m racing in the leagues with mcnabfish and I’m not the greatest racer I’ll admit but the number of time I’m pit manoeuvred or slammed off the track is obscene. Last race in the Lambo league last night started 3rd went to over take on 1st straight on top gear track, get slammed onto the grass into a dead zone where it takes 15seconds to get back on the track. Catch up the field for me to be used as a break on follow through and get dead zoned again. The one race where I had a clean race with the field I finished 2nd. Spa started avoided carnage on 1st corner to be slammed from the rear on the hill up.
I admit, once I’ve been shafted I will go Liam neeson on the guy who took me out. Obviously if I get a little bump on a corner with the guy going on the inside I’m not fussed but when I’m a barrier to stop their drift it’s a little different. I have been ghost leaguing just to avoid the dicks.
Agree when I’m further up the field contacts less and there’s some respect.
Had a go at this today,it’s no better than running in normal lobbies.
Had the same guy take me out 4 races in a row.Corner cutting just to win seems to be the norm along with taking out anyone who’s in your way as you re-enter the track.
Fun.
